It's gotta be a disgruntled Liberal or a mischievous Conservative type behind it all
You mean that the riding of Saskatoon was so important that the Cons slipped in a covert agent into the Lib HQ at some point, so he could call to a radio station and make allegations against his own guy in the hopes it would be traced back to the Lib HQ, thereby embarrassing the Lib candidate??

Wow...now that would be a good spy novel.

I agree it is a serious thing to say, but is asking if he ever did something the same as making an allegation? I'm just wondering about the legal definition of making as allegation.
You cannot be serious? How many reputations have been RUINED from something like this? The simple insinuation carries tremendous weight.

That said, something else is happening, and I agree with Rouge that someone from either side could got on that phone. Give it a 90-10 split between Liberal vs CPC as I find it hard to believe that a CPC supporter could have found a way to ask to use the phone, stay on hold long enough to talk, and not be noticed doing so... but it IS possible.

Edit... but not very freakin' likely...99-1

Well I just looked it up..and the Conservative has a 16 point lead in this riding. I have to believe that eliminates any Con connection.

Of course who knows....there are some whacked out folks out there.

If you mean, am I serious about wanting to know if the question asked by the caller falls under the legal defintion of being an allegation, then yes I am serious. I'm no lawyer.

No no no, sorry that's not what I meant. I meant, and didn't explain it properly, that it could be just some guy who wants to make the Liberals look bad. I didn't mean to suggest that he was a secret agent or this was part of a plan by the Conservatives.

Early on in the campaign some moron put up a hand-written sign in north Calgary urging people to vote for either the Conservatives or Liberals (I can't remember which) because Layton is married to a woman who isn't white. This incident could be something like that.

Yeah, the Conservative had no reason to try anything this risky. It has to be an over-zealous Liberal party grunt.

Im no barrister either...but Im pretty sure that any kind of "inference" towards something like this is treated just as seriously as a direct accusation.

Asking if someone did something as serious as this ( especially over the airwaves) could easily be construed as infering.

Fair enough. In my haste to get caught up I misread your post FA. My apologies. Man a day away from CP, and I get cranky!!

Just heard the call "live" on CBC...

It sounded like the caller had spent too much time at Happy Hour.
