The entire narrative that Huska has the guys performing above their skill level completely disappears when Wolf isn't in God mode. There is a reason he won't play Cooley. Miramanov goes from healthy scratch to top 4 d-man???

They have a good period here and there, but that's it. It's boring passive hockey and a system that will never win.

A really bad start to the season may force some interesting decisions.
May not be a bad thing.

Okay, I can accept us being a smoldering heap of suck this year.

All that I ask for in exchange is that the Oilers go out in round one or miss altogether.

I mean ffs, after the last two years.. at least do us that solid.

Maybe we'll actually swing for the fences on something (trade-wise)

Most successful rebuilds include a ballsy transaction or two along the way

I think we've been playing is especially safe because they think they have the horses to sneak into 8th. If it becomes obvious early on that they don't, maybe that opens the door to some moves, including Andersson's.

This is exactly what many of us were hoping for. Play the kids lots and lose.

Who could be upset?! We aren't winning with this group. They have barely any talent. We need picks.

Let's hope this is what we get all year. Its the medicine we need right now
Did we really stay in it? Thought we were totally outplayed in the third.

This is how this season is going to go. Win one, lose three. I’m ok with it. Bring on McKenna! I wish. The Flames don’t have that kind of luck. Flames could finish last and some other team would win the lottery

We could have two tickets to the McKenna sweepstakes. We just need the tires to fall of in Vegas somehow and just miss (I know, I know..).

Tough loss. Was hoping for a better result to try and knock Vegas down a peg, but they are a dominant team. It is a difficult ask to expect the Flames to play near mistake-free hockey and continue to out-work the opposition. Flames were the better team in the first, but was that them doing it, or was Vegas just a bit slow to start? Always a difficult question to answer.

Eichel took over, and the Flames lose in regulation. Is this the beginning of a tough season? Will these losses snowball into a losing season? Was last year a team that greatly exceeded expectations? I certainly thought so, but it will be interesting to see how they respond.

Tough match-up tomorrow. Back-to-back, and against a team they seem to have a tough time with - Utah is a big and mobile team. In my head I have this as an automatic loss, but the Flames can certainly surprise.

On a side-note, I always really like Coleman's interviews. He is captain material. He plays hard like a captain from his first shift through his last, and he certainly speaks like a captain. I have always appreciated him on this team.

This is not surprising at all. Brutal schedule to start and an already thin roster loses its highest paid forward who brings offense.

This is a bad team that needs to lean into a down year and collect assets and making their own 1st rounder hopefully a franchise altering piece.

Oh definitely.

I also feel like perception of Huby have changed. He gives good effort, but his skillset is not a fit for this brand Flames hockey - but he still tries his best. Can’t ask much more than that.

Completely agree. I’ve said it before, but this is Huska’s year to show he can grow and develop with the young players. If Parekh has a bad year, I think it’s more of an indication of Huska’s future than Parekh’s future.

Yeah we stayed in it for a good chunk of the game. The third was rough but first period was good, 2nd period was 50-50.

Without Wolf the score should be 5-2.
Anyway Conroy needs to make some trades/moves to make the team better. Like trading away Miro and Bean .
