Not this early in the season. It happened in the first week 3 years ago and 7 years ago. This usually happens on USA Thanksgiving Day.

Drawing up the NHL schedule is a nightmare, so I don't blame them for taking the easy way out once a year.

Last year's 32 team frenzy had teams play the night before and the same will happen this season for the second 32 team frenzy on Oct. 28.

I don’t think they’ve been saying AI could draft a schedule for decades. AI has only really been around for 1-2 years… in any case, with enough information and good prompting I would imagine AI could incorporate both politics and math into its model to create an NHL schedule. It may not do it perfectly today, but it’s certainly a task AI will take over in the near future.
