Flamed finish 9th place in the west, on a controversial no goal in game 82. In which they would have made the playoffs, if not for a blown call by the league.

McDavid decides he doesn't want to resign in with the Oilers. Leafs and Oilers get together on a massive trade that includes Matthews going to the Oilers.

Bedard finishes the season with 36 points and indicates he will not sign an extension in Chicago.
Kadri scores 40 goals.
Buffalo makes the playoffs with 101 points.

Frost has a breakout year. Leads the flames with 82 points.
Coronato scores 40 goals.
Zary plays centre in the second half of the year due to injuries and is a ppg from that point on in the season.
Klapka scores 20 goals.
Flames finish 2nd in the division. Beat the oilers in the first round.
Flames trade Andersson and Coleman at the TDL - get two protected first round picks and a young defenceman that fits perfectly as Parekh’s defence partner.
Parekh struggles in the NHL until Andersson is traded. Plays at the world juniors and wins gold.
Honzek has a breakout year in the AHL and is called up to take Coleman’s spot on Backlund’s line. Plays at a 20 goal pace for the rest of the year.
Vegas misses the playoffs. Flames select 3rd overall with their pick after they win one of the lottery picks.
McDavid walks to free agency.
Utah has home ice advantage in the playoffs.
Crosby leads the league in points and leads the penguins to his 4th Stanley Cup.
Boston finishes last in the league. Drafts 2nd overall.
Bennett fills in as the top centre for the panthers this season and puts up 90 points.
Team Canada does not medal at the olympics.

Like these predictions. Are especially bold in that they seem unlikely and would cause a big stir in the league - especially the Bedard prediction. At the same time, I could see these predictions happening.

I thought this was a thread for bold predictions, not confirmation of history repeating itself. Flames a bubble team? The league blowing a call involving the Flames? Certainly you can be bolder than that!

Flames fan rejoice this summer as they get to draft Gavin McKenna a few days/weeks before McDavid walks from Edmonton leaving them with nothing

Flames/fans are disappointed by the Andersson return, but rejoice in finally getting a top 3 draft pick after a lousy season.

Flames, unable to score goals, and Oilers, unable to keep them out of the net, trade Devin Cooley for Connor McDavid. Edmonton tried for Wolf but Conny wouldn’t do it.
OK …. /s

Hard to imagine a world where Andersson signs an extension yet Kadri is traded.

Andersson struggles again this season and realizes he isn’t going to get the big bag out in the market, so he takes a long-term deal offered by the Flames. The security of the contract is more appealing to him than being dealt as a rental to a playoff team and then taking his chances on July 1.

McDavid distractions, and overall poor team, Edmonton is out of a playoof spot most of the year, and trades McDavid near the deadline, for two 1 first round draft picks and a middling prospect. Non of the three ever play an NHL game.
Vegas struggles with injuries, and miss the playoffs, Vegas' pick wins the draft lottery for us.
Backlund is rejuvenated, and wins the Selke.
6 Flames draft picks pay their first NHL games for the Flames this season.

One of the Flames' top three centres is injured for a lengthy period of time, resulting in a big opportunity for one (or more) of the AHL centres to get reps in NHL, plus Honzek being pressed into that position in the AHL.

Probably not bold but I think most of this forum is going to be asking for a new coach by December.

Flames will have seven 20-goalscorers this season, including two 30+ goal scorers
Score 240 goals total (+20 over last year)
Score 54 PP goals (+ 5 over last year)
Wolf will play 59 games and earn 78 points (35-16-8 record)
Back-up goalies will combine for 17 points (6-13-4 record). Most of these points will come from a traded goalie who will be acquired before Christmas
Conroy will make three in-season trades
