Very true statements, the South Koreans havent forgotten that there are neighbours that dont like them.

Very similar to the Poles, if someone wants to roll into Poland they are in for a fight. Same with Finland. They look East and...'not again.'

You get invaded or conquered enough times, you tend to stay on your toes.

Both designs seem to meet requirements really well, it'll come down to which offer benefits the economy better. Korea recently upped theirs, with maintenance facilities built on each coast and further collaboration on other items like artillery.

Side note, but with the rumour that they could have the winner decided by the end of the year, is that the quickest procurement deal in recent Canadian history? Going to be up their with the Leopard 2 purchase for speed. Which reminds me, they still need to replace the Leo's they gave to Ukraine and the backlog of Leopard 2a7 orders is massive. Korean K2's perhaps?

The Army seems to be the unfortunate red headed stepchild of the Canadian Armed Forces. While the other branches are getting massive paradigm changing (for Canada) upgrades, the Army's getting only modest upgrades. The most ambitious looks like a new force of self-propelled guns.
