Pan Pacific was good. They have a AB/BC residents deal for free parking which was helpful since gas was $2/litre and I was trying to drive as little as possible.

We stayed there when we went for Elton John before Covid, loved watching planes from the room. Not loud at all and they give you a spotters guide with all the different plane types you might see. Plus easy Skytrain ride to most of what we wanted to do.

This is right across from BC Place.
No idea the cost that night.
We always get good rates during 7's

They seem to list locations in Van. I found in North America, they don’t often come out that much ahead of hotels as far as price, unless you’ve got a bunch of people or doing a long term stay.

You just need a proper business license to run airbnb's now is my understanding. So some have then while others do not. There are also exemptions but I do not know how that works. I just noticed the exemptions last night looking at some off grid cabins up the Pitt River that stated they are currently exempt from the short term rental restrictions.
A friend runs a charter fishing company and that works as a license for airbnb as well. He has no issues with his listings.

Thanks for all the help.
Ended up booking at The Executive Suites in Burnaby.
275.
I'm sure it will suffice, although I did give serious consideration to Locke's tent city proposal!

The Sheraton Wall Centre is quite nice and is in a great location downtown. I stayed there last week for $290 a night but parking is $50 a night with a car.
Edit: ah just saw your recent post. Well if you decide to change for a location closer to downtown this is a good one lol

It is an older hotel but decent enough.
Last time I was there it was host to a furry convention. Quite the party...

LOL that is hilarious because I was there a long time ago, maybe in 2015 and it was also hosting a furry convention! Must be their favorite hotel to book at...

I wonder what's going on in Vancouver. Last week our stay was relatively cheap($300) for the Pan Pacific for a weekend stint. Looks like everything shot up in price. $275 in Burnaby seems a bit much.

You need a business license but it also has to be your principle residence. You also can't rent out secondary suites like basement suites, as they want those to be full time rentals only.
Most condos also don't allow short term rental in their bylaws and the business license cost went up to $1000 this year.
For all these reasons, most people have pulled their air bnb listings & the pricing has gone way up on hotels.

Any suggestions for extended stay hotels or places in Vancouver? 1-2 months?

Or an Air Bnb if you can find something.

There's usually people subletting places if you check through FB Marketplace.

Do you know anyone at the Vancouver Yacht Club? I've heard of people staying on boats.
Granted, not for 1-2 months, but I suppose it could happen.

Driving in, downtown hotels way too spendy at 500/night.
What's best for driving in/out of Van access, quick skytrain or uber to arena for just the one night?
300 or less.
Any good reccos?
Thanks

Try Hotwire. I just put in Downtown Vancouver for check in May 4, check out May 5, for two adults and it had 155 options under $300.
I have used it in the past and ended up at The Loden, which is one of my favourite hotels I've ever stayed in. Great experience.
