Yep, key is they need to continue to move the pending UFAs, Flames have done a really good job.

Having moved 3 UFAs and signed 2 they've more than shown they're not making a bad call to be a bubble team.

I can't see any chance Tanev will re-sign.

Tanev is 34, its his last contract I would think

With his style maybe 3 years left,

I would guess Tanev will sign with a contender,

Tanev has said he would prefer to stay here. I could see Tanev getting traded and then re-signing here

That's been my approach since they started bringing up Wranglers after a miserable start in October. I hate aiming for a lottery pick, the odds just aren't good enough. And they're too good to get low enough for the higher odds anyway, so might as well trade the UFA's, work towards the future but make the playoffs anyway.

With all the trades between the two teams, a CGY vs VAN opening round would be fun to see.

And if the Flames end up drafting middle of the first round this year there is one player who is trending to go 15, 16, or 17th overall that I'm sure many Flames fans would be ecstatic to grab. One, Tij Iginla.

That would be great, however I would guess he is traded,

Once gone, he won't resign with the Flames (this just does not happen very often)
