I don't think any guy is worth 8 years in a contact sport but that's just me (particularly when they're 28+). You really run the risk of guys quitting after signing, or getting injured. Both can be generally foreseeable. Nylander doesn't play a particularly physical game, and doesn't get hit much so injury wise should be alright. You never know about guys quitting which is a risk but given his play for years after he got out of his early contact avoidance days, he should be fine.
Everyone questioning Toronto about how/why they’re loading up on expensive forwards as if Tree isn’t going to go add Stamkos on a 7 year deal worth $7-$8M per this summer.

Pretty sure when Kypreos said 11.25m Friedman said he hasn't heard that number and everyone gave Kypreos ####. Turns out that he was wrong, just not the way they all expected.
How the hell can they pay 4 guy $46 million and still field a team?
The logical thing to do is to move Marner after this Nylander extension kicks in. Also there are some rumors (nothing from any reliable source) that Tavares will take a home town discount to stay in Toronto once his contract ends.
Knowing nothing about their current cap structure I'm surprised they can afford that pay bump.
If 11.5 was in their means, why didn't they sign this months ago?
Can't imagine there's much if any left to play with though.
They really didn’t expect him to have a season like the one he’s having. He’s been good in the past, but not this good. I think they were hoping for something closer to 10 or 10.5. But 11.5 isn’t bad for the production he’s giving them now.
