I for one am glad this is happening now. Get what you can for this draft. Follow up with trades on July 1 for those you can't get 2023 picks for.

That way you can sign and trade for a haul on july1.

Peace out. Bring in youth movement.

I’m glad Maloney and Nonis are in the management team. Conroy is going to be under extreme pressure with a lot of balls in the air. It’s good he has a couple experienced hands to work the phones.

We went from a 50 win team at the top of the standings to a clown show laughing stock pretty damn quick. Might be a record, honestly.

Just more proof that you can't believe anything players say on garbage bag interview day.

At this point I'm checking my phone for Seravelli to report Tanev is also not re-signing.

Don’t be shocked if many teams will want to wait until after the draft.

Another piece of good news as far as I am concerned. Unless Conroy is some fricken genius that fleeces other teams and puts together a Stanley Cup roster from trades, this all but assures that Calgary will be rebuilding.

Say what you will about rebuilding, but I imagine there will be a lot of draft capital and prospects gained after everything is said and done, and probably a lot more picks than what Calgary had from the Monahan/Gaudreau/Bennett/Tkachuk rebuild.

I deeply believe that the strongest part of the Flames organization is their drafting and development. Many organizations that fail their rebuilds are poorly run organizations with way too many misses. Perfect timing as well, because I do believe this team will be rounding the corner when that new building is finally completed, if not before then.

Hopefully they can pick up a first round draft pick in this draft.

I was originally against the deal, but Toffoli proved to be a true professional, deserving of respect. Props to him for what he brought to the team. Think I’ll have a beer to wash down a mouthful of crow.

This is starting to look like a franchise on the verge of the 21st century. The best way to create a positive culture is to facilitate a change of scenery for those looking to be elsewhere. No hard feelings towards these players, sometimes people are just in the wrong place. Regardless of what transpires over the course of the summer it’s nice to see management driving the bus instead of moving towards the back.

Talk about sell high. That guy is a valuable piece for someone, with or without an extension

You really think Toffoli would have re-signed at 4x4?

Lolololololololol.

I didn’t think there was a chance in hell that flames would rebuild. They have to be doing it now. I presume these players talk to each other and once one was jumping ship , it snowballed.

Not necessarily. If ownership says the mandate is the playoffs next year we are in for a lot of hockey trades.

Excellent. Gave him PP1 time, he had a career year. Perfect time to sell high.

That is what I fear. I don't think you can trade all of these players and come back with a better team. It will be a wrose version of Huberdeau and co.

This is all ridiculously brilliant - glad to see organization's hands forced in this, if all this reporting is bang on.

Stock up on 2023 picks, Connie! Make it so.

I am not sure of that. I mean we don't know what pieces are offered. I am all for the rebuild route myself, I just would not be shocked if they end up shuffling deck chairs instead.
