This feels like a Tree trade. It's the guy that makes the most sense, futureproofing the D corps.

IMO, this isn't a deadline trade worrying about playoffs. This is a trade for now and next year and the onward. Kid still has term right? Has two more seasons under contract at a very manageable rate buys the Flames times for the cap to go up. Potentially opening the door to move Hanifin because of what's he is going to cost coming out of his deal.

I dont think it matters frankly. Treliving threw all his chips in during the off-season. If he can land someone he will unless the Flames were truly dead and buried.
As long as they're in the hunt and somewhere in the pack he'll keep pushing.
