Man I love that we get to start the season off against the defending cup champs. The Avs are like a well oiled machine working in complete unison, the Flames at this point are a complete unknown with all the new pieces at the top of the lineup.
Perfect barometer test. Also doesn't hurt that the Avs play tonight as well.
Go Flames Go!

What a strange schedule to start.
9 home games, 1 road game?

Avs host Chicago tonight too, so hopefully they come in a little tired.

I hate the annual opening night loss. However, I'll take a game 2 win and a game 1 loss happily (both being Ws would be ideal of course).

Except for one preseason game in Winnipeg, the Flames don't have a game outside the province of Alberta from September 28 to November 7.

Tanev is by far my favourite Flame. Definitely getting a jersey with his name this season. What a great team leader.

Do the Flames call up Wolf to warm the bench if Markstrom is sick?

Probably. Would be a good reward for him to get some NHL pay as well.
If the AHL season was already underway I'd say Dansk.

Do the Flames even need an emergency backup this season?
(I suppose for when the Wranglers are on the road).
Do they really want one of the Dinos after last night?

Crunch time. 2 points back of the division lead with a game in hand.

With Markstrom missing practice due to illness, a reporter apparently asked if he would start tomorrow. Sutter's answer:
"I don’t even have one year of medical school."
