Of course its a joke, and of course there is no Question about Quebec Hydro (wouldnt dare want to offend anyone from that province else they might want to separate - what a way to view things - dont rock the boat cause if you do you might actually get something done).

Do what I do whenever those idiots call, put them on hold and see how long they wait (I do the same with salesman that get my number at work).

Its generally older people, pinkos, or people that want to skew results that answer those.

MYK
well this is an educated piece of crap aint it? First of all it was commissioned for Global TV...not CBC...my bad. I just wonder where you get your info re older people, pinkos, or people that want to skew results?
Does this mean that only young people or westerners between BC and Saskatchewan have answers? If you do please enlighten me...cuz you see im an older person in the east.

I would suggest that only westerners between BC and Saskatchewan have the right to answer these questions...

That explains it. I always see these polls in Global new and was wondering why people here were talking about it as a "CBC tool" desgined to alienate the West. Must come down to that self inflicted Alienation thing again.

Now that we know, it's a poll from the Right Wing broadcaster, is it still an attempt to take shots at Alberta?

It doesn't touch those other things because they have little or no national impact. Like it or not, we're quickly become the rich sibling at a table of struggling brothers and sisters. Massively so.

Agreed that the rest of canada has no claim to our oil wealth, but what we do with it impacts everyone, regardless of how much we share or should share. We'll either have a national discussion about it, or simply wait until the pressure bursts in some other province and the discussion gets foisted upon us. Why wait.

I am from Ontario, and I say keep your oil, it is yours. You pay federal income tax, that is your share. NFLD should keep its oil, Quebec its hydro, Ontario its Hydro, Nuclear, and Mining, BC its forestry, etc.
When you are up, you are up, and when you are down, live with it, you are down. Bad crop year, buy insurance, or suck it up. Bad beef prices... bad investment wasn't it?

As far as fanning East-West alienation, outlandish comments are already doing this. Dumb easterners, sheep.....really builds mutual respect. Plain and simple, we have a diverse country, and different areas have different needs/wants. Hell, in Ontario, we have different areas that are completely diverse. Northern Ontario is a rural, mining area, with a high native and french population. Western Ontario is very rural, with a high WASP and native population, built around farming. Metro Toronto is very ethnic, and centered on banking and government. The Golden Horseshoe is industrial, and mixed ethnic and WASP. Eastern Ontario is native and French and governmental. Provincially, decisions are made all of the time that don't make sense to some, but eventually, a new government arrives that sees things your way. We went through 8 years of Tory hell, where only wealthier Toronto Suburbia seemed to exist.... soon the federal Liberal streak will end. Much like the Mulroney Tory era did, to the thrill of Ontario.

Who really cares?

It's not like you or I will personally see any of the oil revenues no matter who it goes to. We'll still go to work everyday and our daily lives won't change.

How many people in Alberta have had a noticable increase in their personal happiness and quality of life because these oil revenues since the price went up? And how much will your daily life be affected if the revenues partially get shared?
