2 days into this thrilling adventure, here are some of the questions I've received there about this (with my responses):

1. Is it a TV stand? Yes it is! As the ad suggests, it is a TV stand to hold your TV.

Editing for the follow-up! “Are you sure it’s a TV stand? It doesn’t look like a TV stand.”

2. What colour is it? Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, it's black. Just like the photo in the ad.

3. Do you think I can pick this up by putting it on the roof of my car? Well it's almost six feet long and weighs 200+ pounds because it's solid wood. I would advise against it and also am not being sued for damage to your car when you try this.

4. Would it work to store clothes inside? Maybe if you have a stronger imagination than I. When we bought it, it was advertised as a TV stand.

5. Could I make this into a doll house? No idea. Do the dolls normally sit on TV stands?

6. Does it play Blue Ray? No... It's a TV stand, not a TV.

7. Can we negotiate on price? It's free. Are you offering to pay me for this?
I’ve sold over a dozen items over Facebook market place and between this, CP and kijiji, i have found the most success over Facebook.

While you are facing some frustrations with the questions you’re getting, half of them, imo, are reasonable. Why that is is because you haven’t put on a more thorough description or more/better photos.

Most times when I think “TV stand”, I picture a short bench with the TV sitting on top. I’m Assuming with your tv stand, it’s more of a tv cabinet where the tv sits inside the frame and the doors closes over it when not in use. Again, this is where photos is important because nobody knows what the interior looks like except for you

On Facebook Marketplace, after you have posted the item, have you tried extending the ad to any groups? There are quite a few groups labeled “Calgary buy and sell and free” or similar, where your ad would be shown on people’s feeds. It’s free to join and I find they work when it comes to free stuff

Anytime you’re posting something for buy and sell, you do need to have a bit of thick skin dealing with inquiries. Bear in mind, you aren’t obligated to answer if some question are too annoying for you. Luckily, this is a free item and you don’t have to deal with annoying low ballers. It’s also a nice looking piece of furniture without much wear so you won’t have many toxic comments hurled at you. You wouldn’t believe the toxic comments I see for people giving away a free couch only to face criticism for how beaten up the couch looks.

Also my last piece of advice is to have some patience. If you’re in no rush to get rid of it, relax and let it sit. Eventually someone will look for it down the road when they’re in need of a tv stand.

If in months time you find there are zero takers, you might find more success in breaking it down and advertising it as “free solid wood planks”. You probably would get better responses from hobbyists giving how expensive wood is these days

Good Luck!

I don't think they would automatically come pick something like that up, but worth a shot. Big TV's (65"-85") are becoming the norm in the past few years and minimalist TV stands are in because of that. The old cabinet style TV stands are more 90's/early 2000's.

Most people are looking for the standard "under the TV, TV stand" where your TV is 60-70" across and the stand is 60-70" across and about 2-3 feet high. The TV itself is now the main tenant of a wall due to the huge increase in size that consumers want, as opposed to the TV stand being the main actor 15-20 years ago.
