Canucks complete a vitally important 7 game home stand with 2-3-2 record. Whether or not they win tonight's game, they wasted the opportunity and their hopes are dead.

Thenpy need some something like a 15-5 record in their remaining games to hit 95 points.

That should put the nail in the coffin of the Canucks playoff chances. They put together a good run post Boudreau hiring but ultimately the team has too many holes post Benning that couldn't be overcome. They have some good players but are a very flawed team, especially on the backend, with warts hidden by Demko.

They have two top 4 defensemen in Hughes and Ekman Larson and a lot of third pairing defensemen... A below average defense that they are spending a premium on. The fact that they traded away Hamonic for anything is a borderline miracle. And unless your team is a contender trading away draft picks, especially higher picks, isn't going to end well. Especially when the only goal seems to be making the playoffs and praying to win a round.

This idea of retooling only works when you have a great, generational set of original tools, not Mastercraft #### from the last time Canadian Tire had a sale. Every top team in the NHL has capitalized on top draft picks... Or in the case of the Rangers have a team fall into your lap.

We know goaltending in the stretch run is crucial to a team's quest for a playoff spot. The Stars sure got that from Oettinger who made 38 saves in the win. The shots in the 3rd period were 14-2 for the Capitals. Hintz had 2 PPGs for the Stars and both assisted by Pavelski.

Georgiev was also terrific in net for the Rangers road win. He made 44 saves for the SHUTOUT. The shots in the 1st period were 14-3 for Carolina. Neither team scored on their PP chances which means great PK.

The Jets can thank Kyle Connor's offensive skill, he had 4 points (1g, 3a) in their win. The teams scored 3 goals in 62 seconds early in the 2nd period.

LOL at the Canucks losing in OT. Gotta say seeing 41 year old Anderson in net for the Sabres is good to see him playing very well.

The Sharks try to stay relevant in the playoff race with their win. They have work on their PP as it was 0/3.

The Isles-Flyers game, who cares.
