He isn't being dealt to Montreal, we know Sabres ownership has told Adams to trade him to a West team. They are not trading him to a division rival.

Montreal fans a week ago: get Eichel, but don't offer Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Suzuki or Caufield.

Montreal fans now: Jesperi Kotkaniemi is worthless and is a bust

2nd most delusional fan base in the NHL after the Oilers

You’re probably right. It’s a completely futures-based package since that’s apparently what Buffalo wants. It’s what I imagine Montreal would be willing to offer right now since I don’t think they are willing to include Suzuki or Caufield. And, as I understand it, no team has come close to the demands from Buffalo.

I think any team that is making offers right now is probably maxing out at the equivalent of 3 first round picks. The offer I proposed is two first round picks, a previous recent first round pick, a young defenseman that’s currently projected to become a top four d-man, and a cap dump. Again, not a great package because there is very little star quality in there unless the picks and players exceed their projections. But I think any flames package could be similar unless tkachuk is included. We usually see proposals like Zary + Pelletier + a first round pick + Monahan on this board… I’m not sure if that’s much better than what I proposed from Montreal.

The Flames offer is infinitely better. The Sabres would get back, at worst, a number two center with proven scoring ability. Monahan is still a number one center IMO and would fill the gap in their lineup until their younger players develop. Calgary is also adding players that Buffalo's system is short on - quality forwards. Buffalo has a number of younger top end defensemen, so I don't see them wanting more blueline help when their biggest problem is up front. Calgary's offer meets that need. Montreal's just carves out a big hole in their lineup with nothing to help resolve it in the immediate future.

If the Blues can send Tarasenko to the Devils and take back very little cap it opens the door for a 3 way trade with the Flames-Blues-Sabres that sees Eichel end up here, Tkachuk back home in St.Louis, and Robert Thomas, picks and prospects from the Flames/Blues end up in Buffalo

No way Montreal is trading Suzuki, especially with Kotkaniemi now in limbo. That kid just took them to a cup final...
