Odd choice as Washington now has a goaltender issue and doesn't seem to be in contention.

??

I think they are fine with Samsonov and either of Copely or Anderson.

Looked them up and I kind of agree; stats look great but why does the organization sign Lundqvist? That's my curiosity and big loss for them. I think they will be having some goaltenders on PTO's.

Basically to mentor Samsonov. He was going to be the starter regardless. Plus Hank could easily play 30 games. Copely probably can't.

My first thought on hearing this was that I'm always disappointed when a player who has been with one team his whole career signs with someone else for a year at the end of his career.

My second thought was ... Oh, wait, Chara was in the league for almost a decade before he ever played for Boston.

Why would Boston not bring him back at this price? Makes no sense. Give whoever the incumbent captain is the C and make Chara an alternate.

Lol yup, exactly. I was going to post that this move feels a lot like Iginla leaving the Flames and completely forgot that Chara didn't start his career with Boston.

Forgot he was an islander and Senator eh? It was dumb that the Sens didn't keep him.

Don’t forget how absolutely horrific he was back then.
