D Joni Jurmo would be a great pick up. Huge offensive defenseman who can skate like the wind, just needs to use his body better. William Villeneuve is another great option for an offensive D-man.In the third round, Sebrango or Nickl.

I hope if we pick up a forward, it's Colangelo-big, can skate, huge numbers in the USHL. Gunler will go early second I would think.

Thanks. Flames need to stock the system with some D. The Mackeys, Kinnvalls, Lerbys etc are shorter timelines, but some younger kids would be nice.

I really want William Villeneuve tomorrow. No idea how he isn’t more heralded.

He has a wierd stride that some see as a detriment, and they see the same thing skating backwards. The team that takes him won't see it as a major fault in his game, as many say his speed is still ok.

Gunler (RHS RW)
Ponomaryev (C)
Niemala (RHD)
Dylan Peterson (RH Center)

Hoping for at least one of them to wear a Flames hat tomorrow morning.

So the Flames will now have to trade the 72 pick to CHI in Gustavsson trade *

Leaves them with these 3rd round picks.
**EDM 3rd round - 76th OA Oilers have until the start of the 3rd round to surrender
ARI 3rd round - 80th OA acquired by trading down from 22nd OA to 24th OA
CGY 3rd round - 81st OA

Not sure this is the case. The Conditions of the Gustafsson trade was reportedly:

Quote:
*Conditions: Chicago will receive the higher (or better) of the Calgary or Edmonton 2020 3rd round pick (on the requirement that Edmonton's pick meets its conditions and becomes the property of Calgary. The Edmonton pick is a conditional pick that Calgary does not yet own)
Unless the condition was agreed and/or written to include the best pick the Flames would own in the 2020 draft, it should be 81st OA or 76th OA going to Chicago

No, I am pretty sure the Flames will keep the 72nd. The Gustavsson trade is the higher of the Flames own pick at 81 or the Oilers pick of 72, if they surrender it. The NYR pick isn't in play.

Sounds like Ottawa will be dealing some of their picks today. Wonder what we could use to get 33.

You know what wouldn’t shock me today? If the Flames move Ritter today.

Two years in a row, no faith shown. 1 year left on his deal at $2.75, Flames apparently looking to go all-in on Markstrom/Holtby - could they move Rittich, get a pick, and then look to fill the back-up with a cheaper goalie?

I think that would be great, but I feel like, in the current climate, Rittich is probably a cap dump at this point. I would surprised if he has any trade value at all.

I’d be shocked. In today’s NHL, you need two goalies. I don’t think you will find a better goalie at Rittich’s price who could step in and be a number 1 for a stretch.

Even if they get Markstrom, I think they still keep Rittich.

It's gotta be really conflicting to be a Sens fan right now. On paper, the team looks very promising going forward, especially if Stützle is a centre. But can they keep it together?

Rittich was a year younger than Artyom Zagidulin is now when BSD got in his first 20 NHL games in 2017-18.

Depends on who they bring in, if they trade for Murray or Korpi, then they deal Ritter and sign Talbot. If they grab a vet goalie like Markstrom or Holtby then yeah Ritter likely stays.

Does this get sorted today? Maybe.

per Steinberg the Flames expect the Oilers to defer giving up their 3rd until the 2021 draft (which is not a surprise).

So at this moment have 72nd and 80th OA in the 3rd.
