Ugh, tough call between conroy/langkow, but I went langkow.
What an absolute steal of a trade by Sutter in getting langkow for saprykan after the cup- run!
He was a solid 2-way center with some offence. I do think they should have likely held onto Huselius rather than langkow that summer when both hit UFA though.
I really wanted to vote for Conny, but I had to go with Lankow. He was a really fantastic player, who I don't think ever really got the recognition he deserved. He was definitely a favorite.

I had to go with Lankow as well. I love everything about CC but Lankow was the better player. There were a couple seasons where an argument could be made for Lankow to be one of the best two way players in the league. Vastly underrated IMO.
Conroy, Lankgow second. He never really recovered from the freak puck in the back of his neck in CLB.
Fotiu was a fan favourite, old school as they come. He had a bucket of pucks, emptying the bucket giving them out in pregame.
Bullard actually wore 25 in his first season because Fotiu was on the team until the trade deadline. McSorely speer in 88 should've been a 20 game suspension, even then.
But Conroy all the way...have the jersey with this number in what could've been his greatest goal scored as a Flame, had the game 7 turned differently. But he scored a big goal in Game 5 vs Det and Game 5 SJ as well.
A great interview, a dependable player for Iginla, responsible defensively. A highlight was his return in 2007. Treated atrocious on his retirement exit from the team from the sad sack of a former GM.
That was in Minnesota. And tbh his career was kinda over at that point anyway, he was like 35. He had a good year the following year on an excellent Phoenix team.

It's funny to think back to the outrage over the trade for Conroy at the time. At this point, is there a more widely adored Flames alum?
He is a beauty.
I have honestly and truly never been more mad at the Flames as I was that afternoon. I was no big Stillman guy but I "knew" we had to get more for him than a plugger for the 3rd line.
Conroy turned into one of my favourite Flames ever. Not only for his personality but I loved the way he played all over the ice. Always on the right side of the puck and skated real well. And until that trade, we didn't really have anybody who could win a draw.

I remeber being excited about the trade at the time. I had discovered Conroy as a hidden gem in NHL 97/98, and I always sent someone to St Louis for Connie right off the bat whenever I started a new season. I don't even know what it was, but for whatever reason, I could always just dominate with him.
Was I happy we traded Stillman? No. Did I know and/or predict Conroy would be as good as he was? Nope. I was still excited to see what would happen though. It was just kinda like a little affirmation, I guess.
