MMF: From what I understand, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor are very similar as far as game play goes. Medal of Honor may be worth a try if you like Call of Duty... hmmm. I think I'll add Call of Duty to my Christmas list.

Call of Duty 2 wasn't too bad, though it feels very linear.
Still haven't decided if I want to try and find one tomorrow morning or not.

I went to see the line at the local Wal-Mart last night. There were quite a few people there, say around 50. I even saw a cop car drive up to the front of the store around midnight and park right in front of the doors and then the cop ran to get in line. lol
I knew I wasn't going to buy one but I figured I'd like to see how many people were going to stand in line. I still may get one if I find one.

Oh sorry everyone. They all look the same to me. (Those WW2 shooter-type games)

I drove by the NE Future Shop and Best Buy this morning on my way to work. There looked to be about 80-100 people in front of FS, and 150 in front of BB at 7:55am.

I swung by the NE Future Shop this morning at about 7:15am, there was maybe 40-50 in line. Within about 15 minutes they'd handed out a bunch of tickets for systems, and of course they ran out a few people before me.
Drove by the Best Buy long enough to hear that they'd given out all their tickets really early.
Then stopped at the Marlborough Wal-Mart enroute to work (it's about 7:45 then) and there were a bunch of people inside the entrance.. Wandered in, the manager was giving tickets, I got #42 of the 46 premium systems for sale.
They're going for like $700-$750 on eBay it seems like.. probably won't sell my system. For $1000 maybe

When I saw the lines I knew there was no way most of those people were getting systems. Wish I had known about the Walmart, I may have had a chance. I work in the Franklin Atrium a couple of blocks away from Marlborough.
Not that I need the system right now, I'm sure it would screw up my nightschool homework, but I would like to do a bit of next gen, Hi-Def goodness on my Dell 2405

I cant belive people would actually camp out for this. Disgusting. Went to Best Buy didn't get one, went to Superstore didn't get one, then we hit up Wal-Mart and got the Poor Folks version, it really dosent matter that the controller is wired, or I don't have a hardwear to save games. Thoose things will come slowly.

I just don't get the mania that accompanies a new video game system launch. The people that camp out to get the newest console seem to be the same type that stand in front of the microwave screaming at it to hurry up while it cooks their baked potato in under two minutes. They also strike me as the same personality type as a great deal of drug addicts - hanging around the block waiting for the dealer (in this case - the game store) to get the newest shipment of "Southeast Asian Techno Trip" so they can get it in their system as quick as they can before they collapse on the couch exhausted from the rush.
I guess I've never been into video games though.

I don't know if it's disgusting... people just want them. I personally have no intention of buying one but I understand people lining up for them if they did... Hell it's XMas in about a month and I highly doubt there will be more shipments until after the holiday season.

Microsoft would be stupid not to have any more shipments until after chirstmas, they want to make as much money as possible, and this launch was pretty much all for publicity. In one weeks time the stores will be filled with X-Box 360s and now that everyone knows about them (with the news stories and all that stuff), they are going to make a killing.

Word leaked out (probably by Microsoft marketing department) that shipments were going to be limited. So if people want one, for a gift or whatever, then lining up an hour early may be their only chance.
Add to that the discussions about whether the the PS3 with its new cell processor and NVidia graphics or XBox2 (now called XBox360) with its multiple processors and ATI graphics or Nintendo Revolution with its 'unique' controller would turn out to be the best, discussions which have been ongoing for over a year, and people are very curious.
I was going to wait for the PS3. Sony has ****ed me off so now I will try to get an XBox. I won't wait in line for an hour, I won't pay over retail price. But if someone has the money and really wanted it, I'm guessing that after this morning it will be luck more than anything.
Oh, and Microsoft says that they are not limiting supply to create this demand, only that they are going to try and give a more consistant supply with more regular shipments. They specifically mentioned that they didn't want to supply a whole bunch and then not have any sales for months while suppliers catch up like what happenned with the PS2.
EDIT: Wow, I just read in a few places that most retailers do not expect any more XBoxes to be available until after Christmas. Checking E-Bay right now shows the Premium bundles going for $1000+ (one was up to $1700!). (Although MS STILL says there will be more available)

Nice.. maybe I'll play with mine and then two weeks before Christmas if there's still a shortage then I'll sell mine. They should be REALLY expensive then (if the shortage stories are to be believed).

That is nice. Makes me wish I hadn't opened mine already. I need a new comp and 850 bucks added to the 400 Ralph bucks we're supposed to get would have built a nice new system.
I was looking on ebay today and some have sold for 1200-1400 bucks! That was without a game or the carrying case. Insane! I'd just wait a couple of months and buy it retail.
