They made the replicas more expensive but the authentics cheaper to incentivize buying the more expensive one. $300 for a lettered authentic is actually about $100 cheaper than the Reeboks. You also might be misremembering or have been buying the cheap lettering as any named Reebok jersey I bought was always north of $200 with good lettering, even for a replica.
