So he's back again for another measly 30 or 40 easy tap-ins, ho hum, big deal. Wake me when there's news about a real hockey player.

I don’t normally buy into hype and hyperbole, but I think this kid’s gonna flirt with 50 this year.

I dont think so, I really think his goals are going to go down but assists are going to skyrocket now that he's going to have Neal and maybe Lindholm on his wing.
The thing is, a line of Johnny - Monahan - Neal/Lindholm is so versatile. They can punish teams in any number of ways.
Theres a lot of potential there.
Could he hit 50? Maybe, but I just feel that the balance between playmaking and scoring on that line is going to be really good that nobody is going to come out ahead on either stat.

I like your optimism but last time anyone in the league scored 50 was 2015-2016 season. I know Ovie came close last year but 50 is a very very tough mark to achieve.

Very underrated and impressive how he continued to hit 25+ goals past few seasons with nagging injuries. My favourite Flame.

Ya. I can see that line of thinking. Either way, should make for a nice top line.
And I guess I should clarify. My definition of flirting with 50 would be in the 44-48 goal range.
Let’s just hope he stays healthy and see what happens.

Agreed. Either way it should be awesome to watch.

Yes it is a serious post as the word mongoloid is very offensive and I shouldn't have to post this to clarify that.

Anyways... after reading the article, I am super excited to see what Mony can do this season. He was scoring 30 goals a season with a limp wrist and now that it is better, it is hard not to be optimistic in regards to his goal totals increasing. And that was only one of 4 injuries he had sustained during last season or beyond which is just crazy to think about.

If Monahan can consistently pot 30 goals on a hand not 100%, I don’t see how he can’t pot 40 goals a few times in his career.

Uh oh just had a thought, what if Monahan's wrist was like the kid in rookie of the year where his shoulder was all jacked up into greatness.. Now that its all healed up he's going to be normal like the rest of us?

Crazy to think this is already his 6th season with the Flames. These next few years should be some really good ones for the young center.

This is great great news . Playing thru pain and still being the player he has been thus far is damn impressive.
What an absolute warrior . I haven't seen a guy play thru all the ailments he had since who Langkow? Roberts? Vernon? It's been awhile and this just tells me he's a keeper and future captain material .
I feel like he could pop 40 this year with the teamates he'll have.

To be fair, the original definition of the word is:
"relating to the broad division of humankind including the indigenous peoples of East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Arctic region of North America."
Then a group of hate mongers utilized it in an offensive manner and it has now become a mainstream derogatory comment.
On topic, I look forward to seeing Monahan score 35 goals and get closer to 50 assists with either Neal or Lindholm on his right side.

Didn't Kipper play a couple seasons with a bad hip/back/something?
Also... Yzerman playing on one knee in the '04 playoffs, or Forsberg playing game 7 against the Kings in '01 with a ruptured spleen.

Would a not #1C put up 30 goals and his totals consistently with his lingering issues and inability to make a snapshot?
I mean Connor looked pretty human last fall suffering from a sniffly nose and sore throat.
