Hmm, didn't realize they had a new supplier. That would explain why it tasted blander the last time I got one.
Too bad, they were part of the Flames routine for me...often times it's the only thing I got, as they weren't as crazily priced as other items.

Actually, I'm not certain that they have a new supplier but as you mentioned the ice cream flavour has changed and it isn't as good. I assumed they changed suppliers because of the different taste and because they now advertise that it is from Foothills Creamery.

I could get behind happy hour pricing if it went right to game time. But it ends 30 mins before which doesn't give any incentive to go early.

I have stopped buying from the consessions when I go to Flames games. They won't notice because I only make the trek to Calgary once or twice per year and I only take one or two kids.
However, I have also stopped buying from the consessions and Lethbridge Hurricanes games because the pricing is ridiculously high. They may notice because I've been going to about a dozen games per year and the entire family of 5 make it out.
We have also stopped buying drinks and snacks at theatres for the same reason. It is over priced and I'm tired of being gouged.

I don't know if you can directly compare NHL and NFL.
When your team plays 8 home games a year, with games generally 2 weeks apart, people tend to make a bigger deal out of it.
NHL season ticket holders that even go to half the games, the food gets boring fast.
I find everything a waste of money, so rarely get anything. Even if I am really hungry, just wait till the ride home.

Yes, the concessions is expensive at the Dome, but if the quality and selection can improve, people will be receptive to buy more. I usually won't spend a cent on anything at the games, right now with the $5 beers I would purchase 1 or 2 before the game and that's it. I can't stand those #### food there!!

I'm confused, what's the point of the article? Fans would prefer cheaper? No crap. I thought it was going to say the move paid off business wise too, but it says it didn't. So essentially problem not solved?

Cheaper anything a hit with fans? Ken King will not read. If CSEC can't gouge you, they'll happily gouge another fan.

Re: the point of the article
In the specific case of the Atlanta Falcons, they lowered the prices at the new stadium, sold more and made a larger profit than in the old stadium.

Except the article doesn't say that. It's says 6k more fans per game, concession sales up, but concession profitability down.

Sorry, I thought it said they made a larger profit ( or would make) overall but yes, it wasn't on concession items.

stuff like this really is great to read about. i dont go to NHL games much anymore because I dont like how expensive the tickets are, but im also really disgusted by the orgy like greed at the concession stands. its a trough for these rich owners and players and its ugly greed. really ugly.
good on the falcons.

In Atlantas case, the taxpayers invested hundreds of millions into the stadium. It was a step forward to not gouge the users of the facility when they get hungry or thirsty. It's an example of why I don't have a huge desire to invest hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into these sports teams buildings. These little baby steps from sports teams to make their entertainment cheaper and accessible to more people get blown way out of proportion because paying out the ass when you go to see a sports team is the norm.
Forgive me if I'm not going to rush to support CSEC claims of "untapped economic growth" from a new stadium, when all I see is more potential for sports teams with rapidly increasing payrolls to find more ways to charge premium prices.

I go to games willing to spend a bit more than the average goer I'm assuming - but I don't like getting taken advantage of.
I would buy at least three $5 beers a game - yet I'll usually only buy 1 or 2 (if any) in the $7-$10 range I'm used to seeing at London Knights games. At the Saddledome, we loaded up during Happy Hour and loved it, but when the prices went back up I think we only bought 1-2 each game after that.
I'd be willing to bet that my $10-$20 at concessions turns into $30-$60 real quick if the rates are reasonable. No one feels good when they know they're being taken for a ride.

Food doesn’t seem that out of whack with other venues, but man those drink prices are steep.

Beer is $12 at Rogers Place, albeit Canadian.
