Watch a team like Detroit or Chicago get him and he'll turn into a star. Yes, I'm sour on those two franchises.

Chicago I get, but what have you got against Detroit? Almost all of their core is home grown and it's been that way for the last decade plus.

It seems like every time the Flames play in Detroit they get the short end of the stick from the refs. Yes, I'm biased and I don't care. And they've been seemingly good for decades. That bugs me too.

Detroit often used to get favourable reffing especially when they had Nik Lidstrom.

If I was Treliving, I would seriously sniff around this, and see if Vegas was interested in some veterans (cough Brouwer, Stajan) and or a draft pick or two for Shipachov and one of their surplus bottom pair defensemen...

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Oh gee, does the guy with seven Norris trophies and four Stanley Cups get more calls than the Calgary Flames? I wonder why.

They don't want bodies

They are trying to move players out so they can call up guys like Theodore

I imagine they want picks, prospects, or at the very least waiver exempt guys

I'm not referring only to against the Flames, I'm referring to against everybody. And the whole Red Wings team usually got favourable reffing for the most part.

The point, from our perspective, in dumping Brouwer or Stajan right now is to keep a place for Jankowski. Trading for Shipachov accomplishes nothing for us in that regard.

I disagree. Trading Brouwer removes him from the top power play unit. This should be done immediately.

You don't need a trade to accomplish that. You just need the coach to stop being so f'ing stubborn.

You must have enjoyed last year against Detroit. I think they'll be crappy again this year. I'm old enough to remember them as being a joke team, all the way through the 70s and mid-80s. They couldn't bust 30 wins and one season had only 16 (!). It took Demers and Yzerman to get them to "OK". It took Bowman, Yzerman, Shanahan, Lidstrom and a whole bunch of Russians to get a cup in the 90s. Looking back, they might actually be unhappy with their PO results over the 90s-00s.

I look at it as taking away the toys that Gulutzan won't stop using.

In fairness, that's pretty much every city now.

I don't mind Brouwer, but trading him to Vegas and receiving Shipachyov would give us a year less of 4.5m.

Yes but I would rather not trade him within the division, especially to a powerhouse like Vegas.

In Soviet Russia, players trade... themselves?
