Well maybe you've been looking in the wrong places?

Arnold Schwarzenegger is speaking at the RNC tonight.

On the other hand, the GOP's problem is that most of their celebrity support comes from washups and never-weres. Ted Nugent, Charlton Heston and Tom Selleck just don't have the caché of, umm, currently famous people* Nobody seems to want to claim Toby Keith or Kid Rock on the GOP side and you can't blame them for that.

*not that famous people are particularly clever or have anything good to say, they just seem to be on the anti-president side this time around, so that's probably why you don't hear much about Bush from Hollywood types
Well, no...the reason you don't here from Hollywood Bush supporters is because they'd like to keep working.

Besides the few you mentioned I know for a fact that Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington are Bush supporters. Tom Cruise is adamant about keeping his views quiet which leads me to believe he very well could be a Bush supporter.

Then again, hollywood types are about the last people in the world I want to hear political views from and they don't matter and I wish they'd all shut the hell up.

The point of the ad 'Roos? Seriously?

Well, the man came back from Vietnam and started spouting off about atrocities while his brothers were still there....many of them imprisoned by the North Vietnamese....including Senator John McCain. There is a time and a place for everything. John Kerry chose the wrong time.

Then he throws away the 6 or 7 or 8 medals away the he was awarded for his service. That's a slap in the face to everyone who served in vietnam.

He brought up his service in vietnam as a selling point in this campaign. He himself says he committed attrocities and he also threw away his awards for the service he is no supposedly so proud of?

Those are big, and rightfully so, issues with Vietnam veterans. Legitimate issues.
Hmmm... sounds like he flip-flopped, and he's getting nailed for doing it. He actually showed up to serve his country (unlike the chicken hawks) and when he got back he "flip flopped' about the war and spoke up for what he believed in. What a loser. Maybe if he had spent the '70s snorting coke and driving drunk he'd be a better man.

If he threw away medals then that is his right. He earned them, it's his right to throw them away. A slap in the face to veterans? Perhaps. How is that worse than what George "But You Can't Prove I Wasn't There" Bush and Dick "I Had Other Priorities" Cheney?

He says he himself committed atrocities? I've never heard that. Where's that from? (seriously, not being sassy).

It's from his testimony before the Senate in 1971 Mr. Sassy Pants!

If I were John McCain, sitting in a VC prison being tortured for how many years and come back and find out what this guy was saying while I was there, I'd be more than a little p*ssed.

I'm not sure you're going to be able to understand it from your viewpoint unless you try really, really hard to drop your bias and imagine you were a soldier in vietnam. Maybe not a fair thing to ask, but if I try to do that and imagine how I'd feel, I can understand why so many vietnam veterans don't want to see this guy anywhere near the White House.

Boy did you open up a sassy can of worms by using that word. Now I've just got repeating visions of Phil Hartman in my head doing that skit on SNL where he had all the young guys hollywood stars on (the real Christian Slater) and some impersonated 'young hunks' and wouldn't stop asking them various questions about being "Sassy". Remember that? I miss Phil Hartman.

I'd agree with you if you said "if Tom Arnold, Howie Mandel and Peter Scolari want to keep working they can't get behind the GOP " but come on... Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise would keep working if they tattoo'd the number of the beast on their forehead. Bruce Willis not so much, but he did make a big entrance to the MTV Awards with P.Diddy last night (and proceeded to dance like a real honky) and the Kerry daughters got soundly booed.

On a related note -- I see that your Yank hero Robert Esche has Kid Rock painted on his mask. Boooo.*

(yeah I know he's not your hero but it is kinda funny)

He has Kid Rock on his mask? That's pathetic!

Now, if I remember correctly, Jenna and Barbara (YUM) were on a video screen at the same time as the Kerry daughters so maybe it was them being booed....or maybe it was all 4 of them.....or maybe you're right and they were booing the Kerry's, after all...it was the MTV VMA's and I think the Kerry girls are about 15 years beyond the average audience members age.

Denzel hasn't been quiet actually, although he's certainly not being boisterous either....and I don't know that Cruise supports Bush...just a guess based on his desire to keep his views hidden.

Why is it that whenever I post here I seem to spell every stinking homophone the wrong way? If you knew how many I go back and change after the fact you'd pea yourslef laughing.

.....I spelled the too (that's three) in this post wrong on purpose.

Well I guess you got me there. I never thought of it that way.

But some are p*ssed at the guy, some think he's a hero, so it can go both ways.

If you are a vet which guy do you prefer -- the rich Yalie who actually volunteered and got hurt over there and came back and said things you don't like, or the rich Yalie who had his rich, influential daddy get him the dangerous gig of protecting Arkansas from VC airstrikes?

Honestly? The latter. I'm big on loyalty.

You're embellishing Bush's situation to fit what you think too. You don't know for a fact that Big George (I just made that up in honor of Big Earl....2 dragons) got him the gig. I understand your skepticism though.

Larf. You caught my "spin". I saw it all on CNN today -- Kerry's kids got booed but so did Bush's but I left that out.

I think Tom Cruise keeps his views hidden because they are too weird for us bickering Flames fans to even comprehend.

bas**rd!

I think you're right about Cruise.....he's a different cat.

I have to go to work in 5 minutes and you haven't answered my post about Phil Hartman's SASSY skit. I must admit, I'm disappointed. We argue so much politically and philosophically, but I've always kind of thought we were brothers in comedy. Sniff, sniff.

Only 3 left...then it's back to the real world....it's been 22 months of hell working nights, but if I hadn't have done it, I wouldn't be getting the job I start next Tuesday....the big fat raise that goes with it...and maybe most importantly, health insurance for my family. You gotta give to get, right?

So, I'll leave you with this classic Phil Hartman line.....

"You see, I'm just a caveman. Your world frightens and confuses me"

You'll have to provide yourself with the wonderful visuals. God Bless America, God Bless Rogue Underoos and God bless Unfrozen Caveman Lawyers everywhere.

Good night.

As a lawyer and a big fan of Phil Hartman, I also love the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer:

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I'm just a caveman. I fell on some ice and later got thawed out by some of your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses me! Sometimes the honking horns of your traffic make me want to get out of my BMW.. and run off into the hills, or wherever.. Sometimes when I get a message on my fax machine, I wonder: 'Did little demons get inside and type it?' I don't know! My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts. But there is one thing I do know - when a man like my client slips and falls on a sidewalk in front of a public library, then he is entitled to no less than two million in compensatory damages, and two million in punitive damages. Thank you." - Phil Hartman as The Unfrozen Lawyer - Saturday Night Live

Cirroc: Thank you! Thank you very much, thank you! First of all, let me say how happy I am to be your nominee for the United States Senate! [ applause ] You know.. thank you.. I don't really understand your Congress, or your system of checks and balances.. because, as I said during the campaign - I'm just a caveman! I fell on some ice, and later got thawed out by scientists. But there is one thing I do know - we must do everything in our power to lower the Capitol Gains Tax. Thank you!

Cirroc: [ stepping out] It's just "Cirroc", your Honor.. and, yes, I'm ready. [ approaches the jury box ] Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I'm just a caveman. I fell on some ice and was later thawed by some of your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses me! Sometimes when I fly to Europe on the Concorde, I wonder, am I inside some sort of giant bird? Am I gonna be digested? I don't know, because I'm a caveman, and that's the way I think! When I'm courtside at a Knicks game, I wonder if the ball is some sort of food they're fighting over. When I see my image on the security camera at the country club, I wonder, are they stealing my soul? I get so upset, I hop out of my Range Rover, and run across the fairway to to the clubhouse, where I get Carlos to make me one of those martinis he's so famous for, to soothe my primitive caveman brain. But whatever world you're from, I do know one thing - in the 20 years from March 22nd, 1972, when he first ordered that extra nicotine be put into his product, until February 25th, 1992, when he issued an inter-office memorandum stopping the addition of that nicotine, my client was legally insane. And, for that reason, I ask that you fine him.. not guilty. Thank you.

Nor is anyone allowed to criticize the Bush Administration, by the same token. Just taking an oft-used argument during CalPuck's MooreGate and turning it back on those who purported this stance during that time.

And with Fox out there, we know that there are certainly places where non-GOP viewpoints thrive. (Acutally, after day 1 the RNC got almost as much airtime of speeches as did the first two days of the DNC).
RNC Airtime vs DNC Airtime
Its turning nothing.

Who's not hammering on the Bush administration now.

Is there some Canadian style gag law thats not being enforced?

The fact that you can open any newspaper, go to a theatre and watch T.V. and see Bush getting beaten up by his stance on the economy, the war in Iraq, Bush's religious afiliation points to a fact that your statement is a non starter.

Oh the poor democrats they''re so hard done by [/b][/quote]
Hmmm, gotta argue this for a few reasons. I think maybe your polical bias (which is shown by your last comment) is clouding your view a little. Just hear me out.

1. Both sides get 'beaten up' for various viewpoints, stance, track records. I really don't think one side gets more media then the other. For every left wing pundit, you have a right wing one. For every Fox, there's a CNN. (which I would argue is more moderate than left, but there are other leftish ones out there) For every Moore, there is a Rush Limbaugh.

2. The president always get ripped on. Clinton did, he was just better at handling it. Have we forgotten Monicagate already? The leader of any country will always get ripped on. It's true here in Canada, it's true in the States.

3. Perhaps Bush deserves some of those comments? For example, the economy. He was given a country with surpluses and turned it into the biggest deficit in history! YEs there are economic factors at work beyond his control, but he certainly didn't handle it well at all. You can't argue this one, the numbers just don't lie. Secondly, the war in Iraq. When a large portion (getting larger every day) or your country opposes an action you take, you're going to hear about it. And when you go against the U.N. (not saying the U.N. is 'wonderful' just saying it's all we got right now and a lot of people put a lot of work and faith into it) and many other democratic nations, you're really going to catch it. I mean, you see the size of protests for that one day global protest against the Iraq war? It was the biggest protest in history. Perhaps he has a reason to be critisized. Or at least realize there is another strong viewpoint that needs to be heard.

I'm not saying the democrats are hard done by at all, I'm just saying pots and kettles, and people in glass houses, yada yada yada.

Don't forgot it was the republicans who pretty much stopped business as usual to try and impeach Clinton over the whole Monica thing. Was it a bad thing for Clinton to do? Of course. Was it worth all the time, hassle and money? Of course not, they were just trying to get back into the White House and weaken the democratic party and in the process wasted the citizens time and money.

And forgive me if I think starting a war and sending people off to die while you yourself have gone AWOL and taking the most vacation time any president ever has while your country flounders in debt and unemployment is worse than an affair.

Heh, I'd want the guy with the finger on the nuclear button to be relaxed anyway.

And besides, there are plenty of Repubs who have had affairs and lied about them and still serve in the Senate and House of Representatives, there are offical records of it.

Pots and kettles really. I'd love to see both sides just drop the attacks and get down to serious issues ands some bi-partisan co-operation.

But that won't happen anytime soon.

EDIT: Spelling, punctuation

Thanks for the transcripts and the link troutman...I've been there once before...to find the transcript to the infamous "The Nude House of Wacky People" .

http://snltranscripts.jt.org/89/89enude.phtml

One of the gems of SNL.

I have to start buying the best of DVD's, but I'd like to see them release the complete catalog season by season...it would cost me a fortune, but I'd buy most of them. Some of the most obscure skits were some of the funniest.

For instance, Tim Meadows as John-John Mackey, weatherman.
