Brouwer sucks. Bad hockey player. Do these guys feel guilty in collecting these large pay checks yet looking like goofs night in night out on the ice?

Dude made ~ $55,000 for that game tonight.

Brouwer will be on the 4th line and killing penalties soon enough.

Glass - Stajan - Brouwer

Exciting!

lol bourque? I don' t think that's a good example. Outside of his last season here, bourque was actually pretty good with cgy. Yeah he was a bit brain dead sometimes but he was a ~55point player with the flames and could take over games.

I still remember the threads where lots of posters were declaring him the Iginla replacement

I agree Brouwer is no good, but bourque probably isn't the best comparable.

You might not care about his contract but I'm sure the owners don't want 4.5 million dollars in the AHL. I'm not disagreeing with you by any stretch but his contract is an issue and I can't see the owners wanting to pay 13.5 million dollars for a player not to play for them. Even though that might be the best solution.

They already are paying 13.5 million for a player not to play for them, they know that if they watched tonight.

The fact Troy Brouwer has an A on his jersey blows my mind. I know that not all leadership is shown on the ice but damn... He must give a hell of a locker room speech then. Foot rubs on the charter flight, maybe? Tucks in all the other guys before bed? I can't explain it.

Agreed. Winning should always be the goal especially because that 2 points can be the difference in making the playoffs. Too often situations like Grossman, Brouwer end up hurting the team in the long run. I have never been a fan of experiments unless your trying to get scoring lines clicking.

Worth pointing out Jagr chose Calgary specifically because of Gulutzan.

I had hopes that the rumor of a trade involving Brouwer was true. I would think that if a trade was imminent, that Brouwer would be scratched to protect the asset. I fear that it was only a rumor.

I can understand Brouwer holding back in pre-season somewhat, but I don't understand this 'gritty warrior' playing smaller and with less compete than Gaudreau. Make him roomies with Glass. Maybe he will learn a thing or two about compete level. It is non-existent with Brouwer, and that's not acceptable.

Does Troy qualify for the shoot him in to the sun comment?

Brouwer:

- Doesn't show up during the preseason, because it's preseason
- Doesn't show up during the regular season, because it's not playoffs
- Barely shows up during the playoffs because he is given PP time even though he's a fourth liner

Three more years... yuck. Put him on the fourth line and tell him there are guys ready and willing (Hathaway, Lazar, Freddie, even Stajan) to take his job.

If Tre has to admit a mistake he will, but Brouwer is still NHL caliber for now. He's just the new whipping boy currently.
Big difference, as Brouwer is on a $4.5M cap hit and the cap relief would be about $900,000 (IIRC).

Plus, while he would pass through waivers on the way down, if they ever wanted to bring him back, can't someone pick him up for half his cap hit for nothing? Or am I imagining that rule?

Sending him done, in any event, destroys any value he has to the team, and would likely mean he could never be moved. He needs to play with the hope he can establish some value.

The game wasn't lost because of Troy Brouwer. If it was there are bigger things to be concerned about.

The fact that the Top two lines were terrible aside from maybe Tkachuk was the reason the game was a disaster.
