I may be wrong about this, but they used to hold RAW here once a year or so at the Saddledome until the whole Benoit thing went down. I'm not sure if they've been back at the Saddledome since then - I remember having tickets to a show that was cancelled in the wake of that. I think they avoided Alberta entirely for a couple of years.
They don't seem to like coming here because Calgary fans are unpredictable. They want people to cheer the good guys and boo the bad guys. Calgary does the opposite. It's almost like, because we had Stampede Wrestling, we know whats good and whats bad, so we boo the guys being forced on us and cheer for the villains.
I knew we were being punished, but it was definitely for the fan reaction and not the Benoit thing. Calgary fans cheer and boo for the wrong people (on purpose), they make up their own chants during boring segments, and generally boo anything or anybody related or close to Shawn Michaels - I think he even personally requested not to come here anymore. Jerry Lawler used to call Calgary "Bizarro land" and I believe Eric Bischoff had some comments that they can't hold shows very well there because the fans were too smarky.
Either way, the show on June 17th needs a good ol' fashioned "TABER CORN" chant to get the ball rolling.

On top of that, the Raw shows haven't been selling out here and with the Currency in Canadian it makes it tough to make a buck in a small venue and the WWE won't book the dome anymore because there's no guarantee that it will sell out.
I'm surprised they aren't doing a TV taping in Edmonton's new barn.

It is too bad that this wasn't a Smackdown roster, Seeing Calgary boy, WWE Heel and WWE Champion Jinder Mahal would be great for your boy. I grew up with his cousin and Kirachi Vice Partner Gama Singh Jr.
The Edmonton-born wrestler who killed his wife and son, then himself, in 2007.

This is all because, as wrestling fans, Calgarians are some of the most well versed and critcal fans in North America. We have been spoiled by some of the best wrestling in NA with the original Stampede Wrestling. When the WWE shows up to Calgary with a half-assed semi-professional lineup card. The fans let the WWE know how we feel. Which of course never really goes to well with the narcissists in the WWE headquarters.

How is that really different from Chicago, MSG, Toronto, and Philly though?
Actually I think the cost of running a show in WEstern Canada is too high relative to the revenue generation. Margins are probably too small. You may have noticed that they never, ever do live TV shows in Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary anymore. And all three cities stopped getting these shows at roughly the same time.
Looking forward to this, taking my 3 kids!!! Are the Hardy's, Enzo and Cass, and Balor confirmed? or are we assuming cause it's a raw show that they'll be there

Basically right now with a house show it is hit or miss. Most of the big names will be there but impossible to be 100%. Last time Enzo & Cass were there but the Hardy's and Finn are new since then so hard to say for sure.

Matt Hardy is expecting child #2 anytime now, so he'll probably be off the road for a bit, other then TV and PPVs.

Yep, this is the crux of it. It's silly to think they don't come here because they're punishing Calgary or it's blacklisted or whatever (Other cities are much, much more smarky than here - the UK in particular - and the WWE embraces that these days) If the WWE can make money somewhere, they will. They're not going to not visit Calgary in spite. The real reason is that it's just not a moneymaker here, as evidenced by the booking of the Corral rather than the Saddledome.
I'll be bringing my son to his first ever show, so he's excited.
Scheduled matches are Reigns vs Wyatt and Miz vs Ambrose, but as usual with these things, card is subject to change.

I still remember the first WWE house show that I went to in Calgary after Stampede Collapsed
We have Davey Boy Smith against Bret Hart in a Steel cage. The Hart's played the heros and came out in Flames Jerseys and Dynamite almost killed bret by slamming the cage in his face.
Neidhart against Rick Rude (Both were completely shyte facee)
Hulk Hogan versus King Kong Bundy.
Tito Santana against some jobber
The debut of the Dingo woops Ultimate Warrior before his TV debut. I knew about him because I read Pro Wrestling Illustrated in the day and knew he'd left the UWF to go to the WWE.
There was a midget match too.
I think the Iron Shiek was there and he broke some local jabroni's back and made him humble
I remember there were no grand entrances,
The ultimate warrior didn't run to the ring and shake the ropes, he kind of meandered out there, my buddy looked at me and basically said "If that guy punched you in real life you'd die"
I think Biff Wellington from Stampede got a try out match as well.

I remember loving Rotten Ron Starr and Honky Tonk Wayne way before he became the WWF honky tonk man.
the good old days of wrestling. I miss when everyone still pretended it was real.
Maybe we need a Stampede Wrestling Thread, if there isn't one already.
