Few players looked good in the opening month of the season and like others his game has come around. At a salary less than $1 million I don't think you can ask for much more from a player. That said I would like to see this season play out prior to negotiating a new contract.
I think that this guy has been a really pleasant surprise for the Flames this year. He's a good skater, crashes the net hard, and has meshed incredibly well with Johnny and Sam on that line.
As far as meshing with Johnny and Sam goes, I really think it's an overreaction to want to sign a guy for two good games.
That said, he's a dime-a-dozen guy for me. Sign him to another contract for under a million/per, or don't sign him at all. Good bottom six guys are great to have, but when they get expensive they've got to go.

If he keeps up this play, would you be interested in signing #39 to a new deal at the season's conclusion? He has 11 points in 29 games this year but he seems to bring so much more than just offense. Also, fills our all-important Chiasson slot in the lineup, which had remained vacant since 1997.
Your thoughts?
The real question is, has he made your all-time top 5 favorite list yet? If he has then pack his bags.
I think he's doing great. For the longest time people on here were looking for a big RW to play on the top 2 lines and now we have him, he doesn't have elite skill but he doesn't need it. Chiasson has chemistry with Johnny and Bennett and they're clicking, the offside thing will be fixed over time, if anything I can see him getting better just by playing with higher end skill players.

"''Twas not long for the talented and courageous Jason Jaffray, for, after but 17 minutes played in a Flames uniform he had made TheScorpion's all-time favourites list, and thus his next shift would be his last."

Or you can stop trying to make jokes with all your thread titles and stop trying so hard to be clever.
You knew someone was going to ask what the "Steve" meant and you got what you wanted, a chance to post an image of a former Flame who has the same last name that no one cares about.
Don't be a dick.

I never got the hate for Chiasson, even when the team was losing. He always seemed fine to me. He's gotten better as the season's gone along. He skates/forechecks hard, is pretty quick and he's physical. For 800k.
Some people were quick to criticise Gaudreau, Brodie and the higher paid players at the start of the season. And rightfully so. Always bringing up their large contracts and need to play better. And yet for some reasons, Chiasson, a guy making 800k, was criticised in the same manner.
Never made sense to me the hate he's gotten. So what if he goes offside? You know who else does a lot? Gaudreau. Monahan. Literally every player does it a couple times a game.
If Chiasson biggest knock is going offside once in a while, then I think he's doing pretty darn well.

Who cares about the thread title... There are still people out there who think Chiasson is hurting this team?
Who cares if he goes offside sometimes. That's seriously such a petty thing to rag on a player for when he's sufficient in all other areas of the game. He's also one of the best at keeping the puck alive in the offensive zone. He can cycle the puck and make nice passes which is all you can ask from a 800k player..
