Not good. Even worse is that the Oilers are bad after McDavid and Refs. Flames need to be way better, especially defensively. Like, good lord. 2 years in a row that has us starting with disastrous defensive play. Training camp was kind of a mess and it seems to have carried into the season so far.

The forward depth actually looks pretty good. I've liked the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines so far.
Johnny and Monny just need to get back to form. The defense needs to clean up their play.
Still not sure about the coaching systems. Elliott was pretty iffy again today.
Overall, I'm still not too worried.

I'll say it again, 3 of the defencemen we have on one way contracts are not NHL calibre. I can actually see why Gulutzan tried to address that in the first game, even if that strategy was extremely flawed.

So when are Monahan and Gaudreau gonna start earning their new paychecks? If they could maybe start tomorrow, that would be great.
Not that I'm blaming the loss on those two specifically, but if they don't start putting up some points, we're in trouble.
