What page are the AAA batteries on? Or were they instore only?

If so, how much? How many? What brand?

Apparently not.

Thanks. I can't see it in the flyer; often they have stuff that isn't in the flyer. I just wanted to make sure you didn't mean the AA batteries that were advertised.

I have many hungry remotes at home to feed.

they do have AAs too, $10 for $20....normally AAAs are more $ haha. you could always run to the dollar store get 4AAAs for $2 each. not as good deal but still not bad, and their panasonics.

Sure. I'm only wondering who you actually are. Do you live here? Do you live in New York? Why did you go through the exercise of pretending to be in a hotel room if you weren't actaully there?

There's a simple way to explain yourself without getting all defensive. It only makes you look worse.

Ken, btw you could do what I do with my remotes and little gadgets like wireless mice etc, go pick up a re-charbable battery pk called Pure Energy, its cdn company and it comes with charger 4AAs and 4AAAs alkalines. They are ready to use out of the box and no memory so you dont have to drain everytime, is actually recomended to keep topped up. Handles 25 complete drains and 250 charges. You can also charge AAs and AAAs at the same time. Batteries last months for me, change them once a month im good to go and always have a spare set ready. All for $18 at london drugs.

the shaw boxes are refurbished
I haven't looked at the flyer yet, but are they the refurbished PVR boxes? (motorola DCT 6208) [/b][/quote]
Don't know this for sure, but my guess would be that these boxes actually aren't refurbished. I think they probably just say that so people don't go all over town trying to price match at different retailers. Other retailers say that they can't match the price because all of theirs are new. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Shaw is selling these things directly to the consumer, and probably have arrangements with retailers to do so through their stores. So instead of having all of their digital terminals across town at $100 off, they limit themselves to 300. Just my theory.

Anyway, I just picked one up, and they still had a bunch left 1 hour after they opened. 1 year warranty.

Edit: I'm wrong, it is refurbished....originally registered to someone in Vancouver

Plus, a refurb can be simply someone returning one of these to Shaw because they cancelled their service, or upgraded (from a 6208 to 6214).

I went this morning and got one too. That is really strange, the people there told me that there was a 3 year warranty.

Yeah, they didn't seem too swift there. Pretty sure they told me 1yr.

I would email Shaw and verify it with them. That way, when they reply, you have it in writing as to what the warranty is.

I never thought twice about a warranty when I got the original.
I bought mine at this sale in 2001, and had two lock up/screw up in the next two years. Had both replaced hassle free.

In the event it does screw up called Shaw repair, they'll fire a singal to check on the box. If its pooched, they'll usually tell you just to go in and exchange it. ..but you have to call repair, as they'll put a note on your account so that the CS agents at the office don't have to go through the whole procedure (and are usually stingier).

The only hassle is having to go to the Shaw office and get a replacement.

Not once in the two times my f'd up did anyone ask me when and where I got the box or for a reciept.

Now, that was for the old standard box. With the pricier HD boxes, that may change. Specifically, the PVR one, where it costs a lot more, and people may want to salvage what they kept on the HDD, things may get trickier. Shaw had a 6208 that had a PVR (single tuner) and had all sorts of problems with it, and replaced it with the 6412, and I think charged people for the upgrade.

Thing is, if you're without a box, you're getting less services and paying less to Shaw...for exchanging out a box that they can fix and resell, Shaw prevents hassle and losing customers.

Thanks for posting that VIP Link ricosuave, saved me a ton of time tomorrow. I ditched work early and went down with a staff member. The batteries are maxells and the AA's are a great steal. Didn't go too crazy this year, just got the wireless headphones for $50, and a $15 alarm clock.

IF you're looking for a TV this year you may be dissapointed, they don't seem to have many on sale this year.

One word of warning, if you see an ADBEAT sign, under something at the show - that's their everyday price, it's not a Big 4 Special. You on;y end up saving 10% or so with these. You need to look for the clearance signs. Always take a look at how much you're saving off of regular price, keeping in mind that their regular prices are ridiculous.

They were out of the Panasonic dual handset models for $55. Not sure if they'll have more for tomorrow.

Okay, so I have the flyer here with me, and each page says something like "9am specials/10 am specials", etc.

Does this mean the items on that page are only on sale for that hour? I'm new to this and I see a couple of things I'd like but not at the point of rearranging my day to hang out there all day.

No. All the stuff is there and the price it says in the flyer from the start.
Not sure why they do that...some "truth in advertising" laws, maybe?
