Yesterday's back nine cost Brooke. She was right in position, just put herself a little too far back, had to force it.

Sweden pulling away for gold.
Poland struggling. Can the Canadians catch her?

And fourth for Canada too, Batty just behind Pendrel. We do seem to get a lot of fourths over the past few Olympics.

Bronze for Pendrel! I've raced against her brother Geoff on the BC Cup DH circuit, and he absolutely smoked me. That's a fast family, super rad people, and nobody deserves it more!

So per ESPN website, US officially loses appeal of the relay.
Canada sitting at 22 medals, looks to be solidly in 10th spot in overall medals. A fantastic result seems to me.
Great Britain with an amazing Olympics. Could maybe still catch China in overall medals, and already ahead of them in Golds.

22 medals ties Canada's performance at Atlanta for the most medals in a non-boycotted Games.
Is there still any realistic chance for at least one more?

Needs 3 wins for bronze.

Personal gear grinder but Overall medals is such a silly way to order the standings. It only happens in Canada and the US.
Still a good haul and great Olympics and lots of awesome athletes and stories... but there's winning and there's losing.
(cue freak out)

I've noticed that, but in that sense why even give out silvers and bronzes then. I don't like how they do it just by gold in Europe, it renders all the other medals completely meaningless.
I kinda just see gold as a tiebreaker with another nation for overall medal count. Like how more goals than someone you tie in points with would give you the Art Ross.

It makes everyone feel better about it? Its a lot more fun to say you got silver then saying you lost and in all fairness it's still a big accomplishment but I dunno, can you really say you're the 10th best nation when theres more nations that have WON more events than you?

Yeah they give out silvers and bronze for a reason. And if you haven't noticed, the athletes and most fans care a great deal about those medals. Ideally you'd award different points for gold, silver, bronze but that's not really the objective, is it?
Really hope they get to 23.
