Every stream on nhl.tv is now 60fps, even the Canadian broadcasts. It looks so much better than cable or satellite. I've pretty much exclusively use NHL.tv via Apple TV 4 and a DNS unblocker to lift blackouts over my TV subscription. Maybe the problem is your internet connection?
Aside from being 30 seconds behind real time which really messes up chatting with friends, I've been extremely happy with nhl.tv streams.
I watch games off of http://now.sportsnet.ca and stream it from my PC to TV. I use a Shaw Go account I bummed from my brother's account who's still paying for cable.
If you know anyone who hasn't cut the cord yet, that maybe an option.

Streaming in Canada is LEGAL, there are many private streaming sites. I pay 10/Month and get 50 HD channels with a 72hour guide.... Nver miss a flames game, NFL game or UFC.
EDIt: I used to use free streaming services, but the dependability was not there. it is worth the cost. I may have an invite or 2 if interested.

This. Works great, except for the slight delay. Have to put the phone away so you dont get the SCORE update.

Hopefully they get all the kinks fixed by next season. I'm desperate to cut my cable off and am only keeping it for hockey. I just want a reliable streaming service, but it seems like NHL.tv really dropped the ball this season after GC being pretty reliable.
If so, I was using it as well. Subscription lapsed and now it seems gone forever.
It was a far superior product and I'm pretty sure it was a three-guys-in-a-basement type of operation. It blows me away that the NHL, awash in that sweet Rogers broadcast money, can't put together something even comparable. I understand they're serving more traffic than a rogue streaming site, but, come on.
Yea, don't know what to tell ya. Zero problems at my house. Just ran the replay this morning to get some metrics, streaming 60fps at 6-8mbps. Always looks great.
