Iirc depres had some maturity issues that put into question his effectiveness as a nhler so they weren't selling high. But still a bad deal no matter which way you slice it.

He told a reporter that he sees Perron as a 20 goal scorer, and Hagelin as a 15 goal scorer, but Hagelin had a better plus minus this year.

Rutherford needs to be fired ASAP. He's just horrible. How he's been a GM this long is a mystery to me.

Picking-up term in this deal makes no sense. And why he gave-up his first rounder for Perron last year makes no sense. The Pens are done.

?? Hagelin for Perron is a pretty good trade. Unsure why anyone would be lambasting this.

Yeah, Hagelin is having a rough year, but he is a very very good top 6 player. Perron, eeeeehhhh not so much.

Edit: Keep in mind I think Rutherford is a terrible GM.

There's no point in picking-up term is a main issue people have with it.

Perron was much better before he went to Pittsburgh, I think you are selling him short. I fully expect Hagelin will have trouble meshing with the Pens as well, the most consistently and criminally overrated team in the league.

The Penguins? Overrated? But they have Crosby! And Malkin! And great wingers and defencemen like… like…

Hey, look! There's Crosby! And isn't that Malkin over there?

Another puzzling move for the Penguins. Rutherford is destroying that team. Why pick up a struggling winger that hasn't scored 40pts in a season that has 3 years left at $4M for a couple of pending free agents

The reality is that you can find guys to replace a Hagelin on 1 year deals as UFA's every summer. This is just a terrible waste of cap space and does not even help them in anyway. They need to fix their defence.

think the Pens would go far as to say Ben is full of Love & Joy?
