Thats even worse. Seriously? Is John Scott going to the All-Star game such a travesty that the league has to actively work against him?

If you dont like it then dont give fans a vote. Period. If you're going to let fans vote then you have to honour the damned vote regardless of how ridiculous it is.

They made their bed, they should have to sleep in it.

Who really cares?

Plot twist: Whoever the Coyotes send in place of Scott will suffer a season ending injury.

So, did Montreal actually need him for anything or are they expecting future favours from the league?

Glad this is coming to a head finally.
Don't get me wrong... John Scott sucks and I think in the end his presence on the ice would just make the game worse (rather than funny or intriguing). It's just that this is kind of a slimy way for the NHL to get their way. I would have rather the NHL just learned their lesson, picked up some viewers to watch the train-wreck and removed write-in ballots going forward.

ok that is ####ing shameful. Just let the guy go. Yes he sucks, yes his vote was a troll, but the game is a joke anyway. Jesus.

This is the most blatant example yet of of the NHL's active disdain for its own fans.

Seriously, if you care about hockey - enough that you know and care who goes to the All Star Game and are willing to take the time to prank it - this league despises you.

If fans make a stink, the NHL will allow Scott to be there.

My prediction: he declines to go but gets a contract extension for next season on a 1 way contract.

Hopefully the league learns its lesson that you can't give responsibility for something as important as the Allstar Game to fans.

I'll preface this by saying that I think John Scott sucks at hockey and the sooner the league rids itself of players of his ilk the better off it'll be... having said that this is weaksauce. If you allow the fans to vote on participation then you damn well put in whomever it is that they elect. If you're not gonna do that then just drop the pretense and don't have the fans vote for anything.

Bad form NHL, bad form.

Scott should be tankful he's being spared from the 3-3 action with the most skilled players in the world. Do you know how humiliating it would look to literally watch EVERYONE skate circles around you. That would have only furthered the conversation around what are players like this even doing in the NHL in the first place. If anyone didn't get the mockery he was being made out to be through this voting process, they surely would by watching the game.

Don't like that the NHL had to backdoor him like this, but clearly this is a situation they never intended (and for good reason) to materialize.

We must protect the sanctity of a contrived 3 on 3 mini tournament the game!

So, the fans are the ones buying the ticket, for a meaningless game, and they aren't allowed to see who they voted for? If you didn't want John Scott in the game, then you should have voted someone else. You could have done the same thing the people who voted for him did, but instead you just complained about a game that most people haven't watched in a long time. The people complaining about Scott being in the game grind my gears.

wow, what a gong show. John Scott should obviously be nowhere near an All-Star Game, but hey - it was the league's fault that Scott was voted in the first place. He was voted in, fair and square. How can you not honour that? Pretty low to ask the guy to step away from a career highlight and then have him traded. Pretty weak.
