In all seriousness, the Flames are playing good hockey right now. Anaheim is playing crap hockey for the first time in 5+ years. This is the time to not only win, but clobber them as payback for all those years of losses.

Exorcizamus te, omnis immunde spiritus, omni satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica, in nomini et virtute Domini nostri Jesu Christi, eradicare et effugare a Dei Ecclesia, ab animabus ad imaginem Dei conditis ac pretioso divini Agni sanguini redemptis.
There. That ought to do it.

I'm actually going to pray tonight for a win. Haven't prayed in a long time. Whether it's God, Jesus, Yaweh, Allah or Zeus. One of them will hear my prayers.
While I would love a win in Anaheim, I'm going to go off on a limb here. I predict that the Ducks channel their inner Duck and play their best game of the season. Then they will go onto lose 6 in a row. But hey, at least they didn't allow the Flames to break the curse. Damn it!
"Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. Valor pleases you, Crom, so grant me one request, grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to hell with you!"

Time to refresh this thread as the Flames head to the dreaded Honda Center again to face an Anaheim team that appears to be playing its best hockey of the year.
Will tomorrow be the day the Flames can shed this dreaded curse?
An article in the Herald today reminds us that other teams have had to slay similar dragons, namely the Penguins who had made 42 straight visits to the Spectrum in Philadelphia, over 15 years, without being able to register a W.
They broke the curse finally on Feb 2, 1989 with a young Mario Lemeuix getting two points and aided by two Pittsburgh DJ's who attended the game dressed like witch doctors (complete with a bone through the nose).
If only Boomer and Pinder, or perhaps Steinberg, would do something similar and in the process do the Flames a solid. Drastic times call for drastic measures!
A Pittsburgh radio crew had travelled to Philadelphia so two deejays, dressed like witch doctors, could cast afternoon spells at the Spectrum.
All in support of the long-suffering Penguins, who had made 42 straight trips there – over a span of 15 years – without registering a single win against the Flyers.
Hence the desperate measures.
“A whole witchcraft breaking-of-the-curse event,” recalls Troy Loney. “One of the guys, he had a bone through his nose.”
Added Bob Errey: “Some kind of seance. A voodoo dance. Wearing beads and everything.”
That evening – Feb. 2, 1989 – the Pens prevailed 5-3. Thanks to two assists from Mario Lemieux, then 23. Thanks to 39 saves from backup Wendell Young.
This year has been such a disaster on so many levels. Breaking the Honda curse so the Flames can go into next year without it hanging over their heads is about the only thing left that can make this year not a complete waste.

I never noticed this quote from the last time this thread was open... Well done sir. Well done. An awesome use of a quote from a great movie. Fits perfectly with the flames trying to get the monkey off their back.
There's a good chance he won't let in any goals, that's true.
My confidence level in the Flames being able to break the curse is at an all-time low for tomorrow's game. Hopefully, they can pull off the big shocker.
I haven't checked the standings in a while, so I didn't realize that the Ducks have been on a tear recently and are now only 2 points behind the Kings for first in the Pacific. Confidence level is even lower.
