Moral Hazard/Act of God.
No one had a gun to your head to offer him that contract nor could the circumstances which transpired that preclude him from honoring it have been predicted.

I'm pretty surprised Makarov and Mogilny are not in there already.

Zubov probably deserves it the most criminally underrated.
Mogilny, Kariya, and Lindros are all weird cases to me.
At their peak they were some of the top players in the world.
But injuries made them unable to have the long careers that help you put up HoF stats.
Personally think all of them deserve to be in, but might have a hard time unless a soft year is coming up.

It's easy to make a case for Lindros being in the Hall of Fame.

Dont disagree, but the circumstances of him being paid are that he is not retired, but is on LTIR. The circumstances of entering the Hall are that he is a retired hockey player.
So which is it?

Wonder what Alexandre Daigle has to say about Pronger getting into the Hall?

Another year that Makarov gets snubbed. Seriously, this is the hockey hall of fame, right? Not the NHL hall of fame?

Mark Recchi should be next in the group IMO

It is hard to believe it took so long for Housley to get in the HOF. 2nd all time American scorer, last dman to take a run at 100 points, and still put up solid numbers in the dead puck era.
This just goes to show the Hall is still an old boys club and getting in relies on befriending the right people almost as much as hockey success.

Is deadbeat dad Glen Anderson in the hall? If so, the standards have really slipped.

Agreed on Housley. He wasn't much of a 'D' man, but he was an immensely talented little guy and had an eerie ability to get shots through from the point on net.
Somehow thought he was in the hall already.

Guys should have to be among he top 10 players in the league for a number of years...not just have long careers that pile up their stats.
Andreychuk and Recchi (and many others mentioned) were never elite players and should be nowhere near the HHOF.
They were certainly very good players, but The HOF should be for the elite only.

Kariya will get in as early as next year. 989 points in 989 games. A point a game player and he was one of the top players in the game for a few years while on Anaheim.

I would add Housley to that list personally. Its insane that he is going in and Makarov is not.

Was there no discussion on Pat Quinn getting into the HOF?
I thought it would have been fitting to place him in the same way Pat Burns was no?

Can you get knocked off the ballot like in baseball if you linger too long without enough support? If not, I don't see what it matters if Pronger gets in now or in 5 years.
