One thing to note as well, while the play is going on, he is getting cross checked and knocked around and watching the movement of the puck, he even looks down to check his positioning to ensure he's not too deep in the crease. Hudler is a very good and very smart player. Awesome member of our team for sure.

It's silly that some duck fans think Hudler was diving. It's more silly after seeing all the abuse he took the whole shift.

I think Hudler is pretty badly hurt, he really been bringing it but hes such a gamer you can tell hes trying to help any way he can.

This thread title makes me think he retired or something.

But I agree. Hudler, awesome.

And what an example that is for the younger players, seeing the vet paying that kind of price. And not just a vet, but an undersized, high skill, team point leader sacrificing like that.

Thanks to the OP for pointing that shift out otherwise I would've totally missed it. I knew he was the critical screen on the goal, but had no idea of everything leading up to it.

This is exactly what I was thinking. If he can't contribute in a meaningful way on the score sheet because he's hurt, he's sacrificing his body for the team. Just awesome.

I think he's healing. Longer playoffs = healthier Hudler. He's looking better and better to me in the last couple games. Which is good, because Monahan looks decimated. Who would have thought Gaudreau would be the durable one on that line?!

Monahan ... will be really curious to hear the Monahan report when this season comes to a close.
That cross-check was horrendous. I'm surprised a guy isn't seriously injured after something like that. Jiri has been an inspiration of angry determination to play through what has to be some painful ribs/back issues. Both Van and the Ducks (not to mention LA in the last game) have been abusing him.

Although I was cursing him a minute before Johnny tied it, when he was in the exact same spot with tons of room and probably one of the best shots on the team. Thank you Johnny for burying it.

As happy as I was with the GWG, thats how animated and angry I was with the crosscheck that immediately preceded the facewash. I was so pissed off.

But what a warrior eh? That was a man determined to literally do whatever it took to win the game. Backs rewarded him, and in the process taught an entire team of youngsters an extremely valuable lesson that no amount of 1st overalls, coddling, or 6x6's can teach you.

The lesson being sacrifice, in case you missed that LOL

Sacrifice? I can't be pulling all-nighters with cougars at the dance club with bruises on my hips and back. C'mon, that's just common sense.

Wow thanks for posting that, I hadn't really given another look at that sequence until now.

Another smallish player showing how to stand in front of the net. Love Hudler's determination. He's playing hurt for sure, but he and Gaudreau makes things happen on the ice when it's needed.

Love Hudler think he has big huge for us this year. I am just pumped that Santa came early this year and gave Colborne a set of nuts. He is playing some of the best hockey I have seen from the big man.
