If they throw him in the lineup tonight, that's a huge mistake IMO.
He will get eaten alive by the crowd, he'll be under way more pressure than he's ready for, the Flames will pound him, and they will chirp the hell out of him.
This could destroy the kid.
The only way it works out for the Nucks is if the Flames are so distracted by him that it takes them off their game. And I can't see that happening.
Putting in Baertschi would play right into the Flames' hand.

the Flames may not be world beaters but they are a team with 5 rookies in the lineup and Baertschi was unable to demonstrate that he deserved to be one of them.
Ferland is playing in this series because Baertschi couldn't learn how to play in the NHL. Think about that for a while.

Hard to say.
I am not a Baertschi fan, but the kid does have some skill. He is a high-risk, high-maintenance prospect, and like you said, a bad showing could hurt him. A good showing on the other hand could move his confidence ahead light years.
I'm not sure the Canucks want to use now to make or break him though.
