The Coyotes trading Dubnyk for a 3rd round pick. He was the only reason they were winning any games is imo the biggest tank move this year.

His record was meh with Phoenix

Oilers. They've been tanking for 7+ years.

This, they expected Dubnyk to suck then when he started winning too much they dumped him.

9-5-2 for a team that's currently 8 points worse than 4th worst in the league...
That's 20 of 32 possible points
That's a 102 point pace.
Without him they've been on a 47 point pace.

The fact that every year people equate the oilers to tanking just shows that every year they're fine with it. Other teams may do stupid things that make them bad but the oilers have been bad and don't do anything to get better. It's like every year teams near the bottom of the league have to do something extremely stupid in order to match the oilers and how they're run on a daily basis. The oilers are the measuring stick of bad teams, teams try to be as bad as the oilers every year. The fact that everyone knows it but all we hear from them is "this team isn't that bad visually" or "they just need more time" is just proof that they're happy with how things are going and they're just a bad team. They should just change their logo to a ship and call themselves the oil tankers.

The Oilers aren't tanking, they are far too incompetent to manage even that.

The Sabres have been continuing from last year's tank and the Oilers are the Oilers. I have to go with the Coyotes for purposely making their team considerably worse as Dubnyk wouldn't have got them to the playoffs but he would have probably got them to a competitive .500 team.

Never seen so many people whine and complain about tanking before. It's honestly more pathetic than the supposed tanking itself.

Still believing that Flames are worse tankers than Sabres, don't ever change.

Funny you would post in a thread to whine about other people whining and not even consider the irony of you calling the whiners pathetic.

I think the oilers were told by the NHL to fire Eakins and at least put in the appearance of trying to get better. So they tanked too hard and got caught.
The Sabers have been impressive but their early season work was much like the flames last year. Go out and sign some veterans, have some competition for roster spots and be poor. This is a good rebuilding strategy. Their deadline behaviour with the goalies is hard to argue as anything but a blatent tank.
Pheonix is doing whats best for the team even if it results in losses rather than actively trying for losses.
I think the Leafs are doing what the Oilers should be doing and trying to change behviours in the room. I don't see it as tanking.
So the worst tankers are Buffalo's deadline moves. I still hope they get McD over the oilers as there deadline work last season and there moves for Kane were both well done to make the team better.

Sabres for sure. Oilers is just natural being a loser I think. They are quietly getting closer to last place losing the last few games. I wouldn't be too upset if the Sabres wins the lottery because they are from the East. Do I agree with their tanking? Nope.

Agreed. And also they made this huge tanking move early enough in the season to really make a difference.

You really think this?
I can't tell when people are serious around here sometimes.

Easiest way to tank is to get worse in goal. Both Buffalo and Arizona made that move, but I voted for Arizona since they did it so early and had to have known that Smith would not pull it together.
