Mony posted this on the trade thread, but I think some redundancy won't hurt here.

sad day as a fan of the team during this past era of flames being a playoff team.

he fell into the flames lap after the oilers made another oiler classic asset management move, and man did he ever deliver. versatile winger with speed, grit, and a likable character.

I realize the time had come, but a sad day as a flames fan seeing Glencross and the Flames part ways. Hope it proves to be mutually beneficial for both.

Wow - tough watching the "dad" GlenX talking about his daughters having to take a plane ride to visit him. It's pretty easy to forget about these guys as humans - sure they make tons of money, get lots of adulation (well, when they're god....) and all the rest. At the end of the day, it's a dad getting transferred and he has the same issues as any other dad who gets transferred (but they usually make a lot less for the trouble).

Good luck Glennie - hope you go deep in the playoffs!

Feeling very ambivalent about this. I'm sad that Glencross' time with the Flames has come to an end, especially since you got the sense that he didn't really want to go. Alas, the Flames' contract management strategy and Glencross' ambitions didn't line up.

That said, I'm happy with the return to the Flames and I'm happy that Glencross is going to a good home. I've really enjoyed watching the Caps this year and are confident that they'll do well in the Playoffs, especially with Glencross now.

Go you good thing!

I was a big Glencross fan, though it was a little tough seeing him become less effective lately. Still a heart and soul type of player that could do it all when he was healthy.

Glenny at his best:

Best of Luck Glencross. I'm sure you'll find your groove in Washington with the likes of Ovie and Ward.

Glencross was a good fit while he was here, and this was a fair trade. I'm happy for the memories, and I'm happy we got a fair return for him.

If I had a "2nd" team it would be the Caps since I love watching Ovie tear it up. If we don't win the cup this year, I wouldn't mind the Caps winning it.

Thanks for everything Glenny. Also, I don't think that girl who won a car off of your goal a few years back is on this board, so I thank you in her name for the car ha ha ha.

Him and his wife raised over a million dollars for Alberta charities during his tenure in Calgary.

There is more to him than just hockey.

I think I liked the years where Glencross was a scrummy, hard to the boads, puck battle guy. He was tough and the opposition didn't like it. His high production years were great as well, but I think a new start is what he needs.

Glencross had deep ties to Calgary so he has been invested in the community for years. I'm sure he will continue working to support the various charity functions he started or was a part of during all those years.
