I'd rather they claim Erixon, than trade for some plug like Allen.

Wow, if he can't take a roster spot from Runblad he must be bad.

I dont know if you can really blame Sutter, as I recall he was projected to be a top 3 Dman, and some teams obviously thought he had the tools, he just never put it together.

I remember being excited at the time, he was highly regarded. Looked like a great pick, honestly I think his own ego has likely ruined his career more than anything. Hard to predict something like that. I wonder how the interview went with Erixon prior to drafting him, would've loved to be a fly on the wall for that in hindsight. Assuming they interviewed him that is...

Oh little Timmy, could be an NHLer right now had you not asked for a trade...

This, this, this and more this.

Would love having him over Engelland as well, who can't possibly be much better than Allen.

Theres a lot to be said about that too. Calgary has developed Giordano and Brodie while Erixon was bouncing around half of the league.

If he'd stuck around he might have had a better shot at making the bigs and sticking, especially a couple of years ago when we were really desperate.

He's actually been putting up some great numbers in the AHL. He'll get picked up for sure I think.

Again, I'm sure his attitude has changed over the last couple of seasons and I'd be down to have him on this team.

You claim him, sit his ass down and say "right you tried it your way and look how well that went. Now you do it our way".

Yup, if there's one thing Calgary's been ggod at for a lot of years, it's been developing serviceable defensemen, even a lot of really good ones too obviously. If we developed forwards half as well 5-15 years ago, things would've been a lot different. Too bad Timmy was/is such a daddy's boy he couldn't see that, it might have saved his career.

Flames don't need any more 6-7 defence men. They need another 3-4.

I think they should claim him too. This kid was our top prospect when he refused to sign. I think he suffered some bad karma for his actions, rejoining the Flames may be what he needs to get rid of the bad karma.

Plus Flames have a need. Backs can straighten him out.

Had he even been slightly patient, he would have had a grade A opportunity in Calgary. Teams are also more committed to their own picks. I bet the Flames would have been more patient with his development had he been struggling. Once he moved on from the Flames, he became a easily disposable piece for the host of other teams he was on.

Yes but the flames aren't going to trade what is required to get that IMO. Why are the two mutually exclusive? Personally, I would love to see Engelland pushed right out of the lineup, so in that sense a 6/7 would be a most welcome pickup.

My first impulse is to claim him but than I remember that time he was playing for the Rangers and there was a big blowup between the two teams and Tom just headed for the bench. He didn't have to fight, just grab on to one of the other players. From that I'd guess he's just one of those players who doesn't want to stand up for his teammates. He'll fit in well back in Sweden.

Flames don't need this guy. Like one poster said if anything a 3-4 defencemen is what we need. I would even settle for a decent 5-6 guy. Erixon is neither.

I wouldn't even waste the labor costs of claiming his just to sit him & punish him. It would be bad karma for us to do that to a guy. Let him pursue his dream - the Flames shouldn't claim him just to punish him.

Live and let live.
