Clipping or not (arguable), it's still a low bridge hit, which is suspendable. It's not as if it's either clipping/suspension or clean.

Love the hip check. No foul there. Seguin needs to be aware of his surrounding better.

That looks lower and worse than the Marchand on Salo hit that got a NHL wheel-o-justice 5 game suspension.

means he can be suspended for 6+ games

NHL Player Safety @NHLPlayerSafety
Florida's Dmitry Kulikov has been offered an in-person hearing for clipping Dallas's Tyler Seguin.

Mike Heika @MikeHeika
Injury updates from Lindy Ruff: Tyler Seguin knee. Could be 2-4 week range. Patrick Eaves no fractures in skull. Concussion protocol.

Glad Seguin isn't hurt too bad, looked like it could have been season ending from the clip.

Can't believe some people try and argue that it was a clean play.

Agreed. I love a good hip check as long as the contact is between the knee and the hip. This was too low.

I liked the way Marchment played. Him and Gauthier were great hitters. Just need that first contact to be above the knee otherwise it is very hard to avoid injuring the knee.

Seguin's a point producing machine. Things are going to be tough for Dallas while he's out.

Stars GM Jim Nill just updated the Tyler Seguin recovery from a knee injury and said it is 3-6 weeks. So that's the official number.

Yup. That was a Marchment special.

Hip checks are great when properly executed. That one was not properly executed.

Yeah, that was a low-bridge hit, dirty, caused an injury and worth the suspension.

I hate when players go that low to make a hit.

More than I thought he'd get, but only because of the precedent.

Cool to see it slowed down in the discipline video. You can actually see that Seguin sees it coming and braces but what are you supposed to do to protect yourself when someone takes out your knee?

Absolutely mystified anyone thinks this is clean. It's too low, in my opinion it's also late, and Kulikov is committed to it with his head down and not knowing where he's going to hit him. No reason to play it this way. It adds nothing to the game except the potential to injure. If it's illegal in football, I see no reason why it should be legal in hockey.

It's fine line to be sure...if he goes for the upperbody hit (to an equally as unaware Seguin), and Seguin suddenly turns his head or puts his head down or at just the wrong angle, suddenly the clean upperbody hit turns into a supposed "dirty" head shot...at that speed, hard to control.

This was borderline low..., another .5 seconds later or aiming 4 inches higher, or coming in at a bit of a different angle to allow that height or timing to hit hip on hip and its a 100% clean hit on hip vs hip.

Back a lifetime ago (it seems) in 2006 Jaro Spacek only got suspended 2 games for clipping Ritchie...and that was more 100% more blatant as Spacek was coming out of the bench and delibertly dove at Richtie's knees to prevent a 2 on 1...recall Sutter being furious. Ritichie was out for a month.

Don't like that interpretation by the NHL. They called it clipping, but it was clearly a hit above the knees and into Seguin's thighs. That isn't clipping. I do find it funny that the league identifies that Seguin went fishing for the puck in his skates twice. He had his head down the whole way into the zone. It's almost like the league is saying to let up on the guy because he's playing with his head down. Hate that type of reaction. Might as well dress the star players in yellow jerseys and don't let anyone hit them. If this happened to some schmo, instead of a star, no suspension. The only bad part of the hit was the mistiming of the hip and catching him mid-rift. Hitting is a very important part of the game and I hate to see the league do anything to discourage it. Man, a guy like Scott Stevens just can't exist in today's NHL.

Dude....Kulikov's knees were practically on the ice, it doesnt come any lower than that.

That wasn't a hip check, that was just a low hit. And I absolutely love a good clean hip check.

4 games is alright I guess, I thought he might get a bit more.
