"when are you gonna stop playing games with god"....that's classic. It's like a line from an 80's action flick.

I find it quite sad when a pastor thinks that violence is the way to get his message across. Kid should have responed with a knee to the groin.

Parents didn't report because they are probably idots who agree with his style of preaching.

My sister in law has a friend who went to her pastor for parental advice. It went exactly as poorly as you'd expect it to. If I recall, her daughter received an ice cold shower for peeing the bed.

Because the mindset is that the child is born sinful and these things are all the sinful nature rearing its head. It is Satan at work, and all "badness" must be punished. There is rarely any exhortation to see the family doctor to determine if anything might be medically related and treatable. And, on the off chance they do check with the doctor, and if the doctor does say it's a medical issue, then by all means, DO NOT treat it, pray it away, have a 'cast out the demons of sickness' session and in the meantime, the kid continues to suffer. Oh, and for heaven's sake, as the child? Do NEVER ever challenge any of that, or ask for actual help because you are not going to get it. You will get told what a sinful human being you are, and if you'd just get right with Jesus, and pray for a hedge of protection to surround you, you would be better able to fight this arrow of Satan that is afflicting you.

And that? That is just the tiniest fraction of what goes on.

When are Christians going to stand up against the violent extremists in their religion?

lol

If this guy is considered a violent extremist then Christians have it pretty good for a group of 2 billion people, yeah?

That pastor is a total waste of skin and while it is true that religion afforded him a place of power and authority, who is to say that without religion he couldn't have just gone elsewhere and still be a child abusing sociopath?

I wonder.....you know what next time I am out at a social function I am going to tell a story about me punching one of the kids on my daughter's team square in the chest because he was questioning how practice was run.

I wonder what the response from my audience will be........

I think you missed my point.

As you regale your story of mowing down children with windmill punches at practice 10 years ago, do you think your audience will be using your story as ammo to attack organized sports? Probably not, they'll just think that you are a total wiener.

Religion or not, that guy has issues.

Ha, the entire internet thinks he said 'Calgary'... I haven't seen many stories accurately reporting it as Calvary. Those damn heathen reporters probably don't know what Calvary refers to!

btw, the guy issued a statement-

Quote:
Dammann did speak with the New York Daily News, calling the ”inexcusable” altercation something he recalls with “deep sorrow” and that the story is being taken out of context.

“I do not endorse child abuse or the punching of children,” he said. “My intention in the sermon was to make a point of how God can use our mistakes. The viral clip does not show the whole sermon, where I say what I did was wrong.”

Oh that's fine then. Next time I'm coaching, I will crosscheck kids in the neck to show them what NOT to do. I think I will be met with parental praise.

Did he not say that's what you have to do sometimes? endorsing child abuse is exactly what he did.

You try coming up with 1-3 hours of material a week on a pastor's salary.
