Obviously a numbers game for Granlund, but I suspect we will see him back at some point and probably permanently next season. I think he proved that the NHL is the next step for his development.

If this means Smid and England are on the same defense pairing, I"m going to put my money on the wings.

No surprise here. As much as I like Granlund to stay, we all know when everyone is healthy in Calgary, Granlund is the next player to go back. I think going back to Adironback will help him improve his skills (especially the faceoff stuff). He played pretty well during his time with the Calgary Flames and I am sure that is going to be a big boost of confidence. I also glad that Wotherspoon didn't get called up during Ladislav Smid's absence; otherwise he would just be a healthy scratch all the time. Look at Potter, he didn't even play.

monahan
backlund
jooris
stajan
bennet
granlund
reinhart
arnold

Colborne too, though I prefer him as a winger.
It still cracks me up that the Flames site lists Hudler as a C.

With Stajan on the books for a few more years it's not looking good for guys like Reinhart, Arnold, and Knight as Jooris came out of nowhere to unseat them.

*#&@ sucker he was doing so well..
I am sad to see Granlund go as I think he really earned his spot, but I don't think it will take long for him to play his way out of the AHL.

Granlund's play had really fallen off the last couple of weeks. If he were to stay he'd likely be a healthy scratch most nights until he got his game back. I'd rather he were in Adirondack at the moment.

We have a good opportunity to trade a veteran centre coming up, but I also think there is a decent chance that the team trades Granlund. He is increasing in value, and if packaging him with something can get us a good, young 3-4 D, you gotta do it.

I like Stajan, but if he needs to be traded, fine. Or even bought out. Or if Reinhart/Arnold/Knight can be moved to get improvement where we need it, good luck to them. At the moment none of those guys have played any better in their callups (Reinhart and Knight - Arnold I'd like to see because of his history with Gaudreau and he is a sizeable guy with a right hand shot).
