If anyone ever needs to get something off their chest, they can PM me anytime. I'll listen.

I think this holds true whether the person is unhappy OR depressed. Just letting someone know that you care is often the best thing you can do.

That's the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it's impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.

I have no problem admitting I struggle with episodes of depression and suicidal ideation. Everyone probably has these thoughts at some point. But they come and pass, and for many of us life goes on.

I can't even imagine what it would be like to feel that way all the time. Where all the love and support in the world mean nothing because there simply is no hope left for life to get better. That's not for anyone to go through.

My heart goes out to each and every person out there who struggles with this terrible illness. I hope that the public discourse now being paid to mental health issues brings some new discoveries to light, and dispels some of the cultural myths we have about depression and suicide.

Takes a lot of courage to do so. I haven't had enough yet. If you are thinking about it though, do it for sure, there is nothing to lose by seeking help.

Admitting you need help is a big first step. Always feel free to pm if you need support.
