Went with Turek as my knowledge doesn't go past the Vernon/Lemelin era. I totally forgot that Turek was a full time starter for two years (and would have been three, if he had not gotten injured in '04). I also had forgotten that he reconstructed his contract. When did that happen? As '04 was his last year here.
Quick visit to HockeyReference.com because I wanted see how we acquired Turek. Not bad at all (though probably lucky in the long run):
June 23, 2001: Traded to Calgary by St. Louis with St. Louis' 4th round choice (Yegor Shastin) in 2001 Entry Draft for Fred Brathwaite, Daniel Tkaczuk, Sergei Varlamov and Calgary's 9th round choice (Grant Jacobsen) in 2001 Entry Draft, June 23, 2001.

Pat Riggin for me.
Turek looked so good to begin that first year with us. Think he had only 3 losses in his first 20 games. I thought we had the best goalie ever. I guess he was decent after that but I will never forget Pat Riggin as our first goalie and the guy who beat the Blackhawks and Flyers in the playoffs of that first magic year.
As a kid I remember I was so obsessed with Riggin I would cut out any picture I could find (no matter how small) in the newspaper of the guy and tape it to my wall.

It was after the 04 season. But then the lockout happened.

Turek - 2 shutouts to start his Flames career and a fantastic first 20 games. Just had sense we finally had a legit goalie after years of 1 hit wonders - Wregget/Fuhr/Brathwaite/Moss/Trefiolv/ Vernon Part 2 etc etc etc
That season he ended up with almost identical stats to Salo up north in wins, save percentage and GAA...The Oilers made the playoffs and he was the team MVP, FLames had no talent and didn't make the playoffs.
Got crapped on in Jan 2004 for a bad game against Tampa... let in a weak goal from the side boards, then started getting shelled...got the point where he was booed off the ice for letting in a 2 on 0 and 3 on 1 goal. Being there, that was low light for me as a Flames fan to that day for the treatment he got. Sutter didn't play him at home again until mop up duty in the playoffs against (I think) SJ Game 4.
In March, stood on his head to beat the Canucks in Vancouver which almost clinched the playoff spot. The fact that Lowry gave Turek the hardhat in the Finals after a win, goes to show that he took it all as a pro. Then, approaching Sutter, restructuring his final year of the deal in order to stay in Calgary, and, allow them to pay Kipper, was totally selfless on his part (thoguh the lockout negated that coming to pass).

So did Myre (211 vs 152 for Turek). Of course, Myre was gone before the team moved to Calgary so Turek is the most for the Calgary Flames.

Not much to choose from there, but Turek was a solid #1 goalie during some very troubling years pre-Kipper. Did a lot to stabilize a position that was previously played by Fred Brathwaite and Rick Tabaracci.
BTW, don't even bother doing a poll for #2. We all know it's going to be Al MacInnis.

He helped to carry the Flames to the semi finals during the Flames first year in Calgary. Flames lost in 6 games to Minnesota who went on to face the Islanders in the Cup final. None of the others were able to do that.

How many goalies in Flames playing history have had right handed trappers? Riggin looks so cool in old pictures with his stick in the other hand.
Rich Kosti?
I know Mason McDonald is one.

Hiller I think is a righty.
It'll take a while to get used to it when Hiller plays.

Well, Turek is an obvious example of a righty given the thread...

Interesting to see the poll so lopsided in Turek's favor. He didn't really accomplish all that much while he was in Calgary. He ended up playing 19 minutes of playoff hockey for the Flames, Pat Riggin played 14 games. Riggin deserves to win this one, imo.

Hard not to vote for Turek after restructuring his contract - that was one heck of a class act.
Still, Riggin had more success, so gets my vote.

I was a Riggin fan when I was a youngster. My brother was a huge Don Edwards fan. I voted Edwards just because he was all I heard about when I was younger.

Haha, I thought this was going to be a vote on our #1 favourite Flames jersey of all time. I was ready to vote for the retros and comment on how the '04 jerseys were my second favourite.
I guess I'll vote for Turek then. As others have said Edwards was the best player on that list but not with the Flames.
