This is why all the snide 'center of the Universe' comments are always thrown Toronto's way.

And in a sense you are kinda are right. The Leafs Continuous choking has been paramount in giving all the small market Eastern teams an excellent advantage in making the playoffs, and growing the game in their markets....so I guess there is that. And with fans like yourself clawing over each other in a berzerk zombie like frenzy, to pay double face value to watch a loser team, the Leafs will survive just fine, and go another 47 years without a championship.

Also, if you are going to draw the Yankees parallel.... the Yankees have actually won 7 championships since you won your last. You compare winners to the Yankees whenever that comparison is drawn to anything, not perennial losers. The better analogy is, the Leafs are like the Cubs of the NHL. A loser team, with pathetically desperate fans.

Give Cubs fans some credit. Tickets are dirt cheap at least.

You had me at "without the Leafs". Losing the rest would just be icing on top.

How do we get started??

The NFL title was prior to the completed merger of the AFL and NFL after the end of the 1969 season. It is sort of the equivalent to the NFC Championship game and the Eagles won the NFC championship game in 1980.

The Blues at least played in the Finals a few times, the Leafs haven't even done that since 1967.

The Stars have made it to the finals four times and they had the more difficult path to each of those finals.

You'd have to assume that the hockey fans in southern ontario would be really appreciative of another choice too. Pretty much win win for everyone.

Pretty sure hes talking about the Blues. They just had to be better than the other 5 expansion teams to make the finals.

Current Stanley Cup droughts
Spoiler!

Flames are getting close to the top of the list.

Close in terms of number of teams, but we've still got 20+ years in actual time on the St. Louis', Torontos, Buffalos, and Vancouvers of the world.

That's the reason the Leafs are so valuable, because they somehow are the only show in town in the largest hockey market (S.Ont) in the world.

The Leafs are with out a doubt the biggest barrier to other teams entering that market which clearly needs and can support it because it will eat away at that value. They don't want that.

The Maple Leafs being a money making machine is nothing new... I have just always found it funny that such a huge consumer base is so loyal to (and will pay top dollar) for such an inferior product.
If Leaf fans could stay loyal during the Harold Ballard era, they can put up with anything.

Don't forget those Blues teams were coached by the greatest coach in NHL history.

The Dallas Cowboys?

They haven't really done anything since their early 90's dominance.

Clearly the rankings rely heavily on former glory, in which case the Oilers cant be far behind.
