Yup. Me too. But if they lose, if it's at least entertaining, then I'm OK with it. That is win/win IMO.

cheering for losses is irrelevant today. No way we lose to Ottawa.

We're already out of contention for a top 3 pick - a win today would take us close to being out of the top 5. Which, while hard to cheer for losses - in this draft, would be a big setback rebuild-wise. Missing out on Reinhart, Bennett, Ekblad, Draisaitl and Dal Colle would really suck this year.

Sounds bad but I'm hoping we lose the rest of our games in exciting fashion.

That's just nonsense - we'll get some good player's in this draft no matter how many games we win the rest of the way. Just keep moving forward.

man I'm tired of all this draft position talk.

Go Flames!!

I'm really tired of that line.

The problem with the Oilers is that the entire organization felt that they only thing they needed to do to become competitive was draft a few high picks. They didn't have to build a defence, they didn't have to surround them with support players, they didn't have to have a culture of winning, they didn't have to have any veteran leadership to counsel their young stars into being good pros. It doesn't have anything to do with the fan base "cheering for losses".

The Flames have a decent, young, puck moving defence anchored by a top 10-15 defenceman in the league who happens to be a great leader and our captain.

We have an excellent cast of supporting players like Backlund, Bouma, McGrattan, Stajan, etc. who play the right way, play to win, and give it their all every shift.

Bob Hartley has worked hard to instill a culture of winning despite four bad seasons prior. There's no question that this team believes in doing the right things and playing the right way. The love to win and hate losing and will put it on the line to do so.

As mentioned, our captain is a great leader and we have guys like Cammalleri, Stajan, Hudler, and a young Backlund turning into a leader. The organization has put a lot of effort into making Sean Monahan a good pro on and off the ice and avoiding the spoiled star player problem that has grown like gangrene in Edmonton.

What we're missing is a bit more really high-end talent. For us to really be competitive, almost every one of Granlund / Poirier / Klimchuk / Gaudreau / Jankowski / Baertschi are going to have to turn into good top 9 players. Monahan and two of them are going to have to turn into bona fide top line NHLers. This is highly unlikely. We also have no top pairing D in the system.

So, for those of you on your high horse about "not cheering for losses" because we're going to "turn into Edmonton", p*** off.

I'll feel worse when at the draft we're picking Nick Ritchie at 6th or 7 while Bennett/Reinhart slip to 4th.

Damn, this is the first Flames game i'll miss since I've been here. Disappointing because I don't see any way we lose; the Sens have just mailed it in.

Who ever we get in the top 10 (likely top 7) this year is who we will get. I like that we are winning and winning/competing against hard teams. This team has been one of the best since the Olympics, the highest scoring since the Olympics. I love the youth coming up and though Reinhart and others look like great picks at this point, I'd rather the Flames continue to come together as a team down the stretch here. It's better for the team outlook IMHO, Flames win big 5-1 with Money and Backs reaching 20.

Hope the Sens get out of bed for this one. It's actually sad when we can come in and roll over a team late in the year. So I hope they put up a good fight, cause it seems like they're in a free fall lately, and they sure weren't too impressive last time.

Plus we don't want to catch them in the standings and fall out of the top five... I'd be okay with a 3-2 R/OT loss.

You need a third screen for the Heat's game that starts at 2

3-1 Flames. Monahan, Giordano, and Cammy.

I find myself being ok with a bunch of losses to get that elusive top 3 pick, that is, until the puck drops. Then I want a 5-0 Flames win.

I guess those who want a higher draft pick should be upset that Hartley is working to instill a winning culture. What is happening to the Flames is exactly why they won't suck enough to pick top 3.

I don't care what the gong show Oilers are doing either. Hartley and his team isn't going to hit rock bottom. The Flames need their fanbase to cheer them on in their quest to win games, not to be upset they didn't suck enough to get high end talent. Hoping they lose is pointless.

Anyway, I hope they win. 5-1, Bouma hat trick.

I think Ramo or MacDonald would have go down with an injury in order to see Ortio. I can't see the Flames taking him away from the Heat at this point as he's playing huge minutes (actually on his 3rd start in 3 days today with Heat) and leading the AHL in SV%.

I imagine they will leave him in the AHL to tear it up.

Nothing better then to kill the hopes of the Sens and their arrogant fans...a loss may all but boot them out of the playoffs.

If so, a real chance of the quinfecta of demise of the Canadian team:
1) Gave the Canucks their downwards turning point/worst point with the Tortorella incident.
2) Took the embarrassment of the circus that is the Oilers, to another level, and technically booted them out of the playoffs last Saturday.

Flames also have a chance to put a final another harpoon in the sinking Leafs chances in a couple days. Playing the Jets at the end of the year with a home game, who, unlikely to make the playoffs, Flames could pass them and their entitled fans, with win in that one.
