26. Florida 12-9-3
27. Edmonton 13-9-2
28. Calgary (by one point) 10-11-3
29. Islanders 8-12-4
30. Buffalo 7-15-2

Buffalo wins the lottery to maintain their 1st selection.

1. Reinhart (Buffalo)
2. Ekblad (Islanders)
3. Bennett (Flames)
4. Draisaitl (Oilers)
5. Dal Colle (Panthers)

We miss out on Ekblad, but Edmonton goes home without him either, and we take one of the top 2 centers in the draft, who'll slot in very nicely after Monahan.

We deal Cammy to Anahiem, and Stempniak to Toronto/LA/Winnipeg.

Granlund scores a bundle of goals with the Flames in a late season stint with the team.

As of the new CBA every non-playoff team has a shot at the first overall pick.

30th place: 25.0%
29th place: 18.8%
28th place: 14.2%
27th place: 10.7%
26th place: 8.1%
25th place: 6.2%
24th place: 4.7%
23th place: 3.6%
22th place: 2.7%
21th place: 2.1%
20th place: 1.5%
19th place: 1.1%
18th place: 0.8%
17th place: 0.5%

Going 24-0 would give us 99 points and probably get the Flames into 7th place in the West, eliminating our chance at the #1 overall pick.

The hockey gods smile upon us because we actually play with pride and effort, and we win the draft lottery, regardless of where we finish.

All I know is that it's going to be tough to go back to watching the Flames after watching perfectly executed hockey by Team Canada over that past week.

Edmonton has a ton of home games down the stretch. I think they will pass the Flames in the standings.

NY Islanders look perfectly setup for a trade deadline sell off and a series of losses without their best player.

I think the Flames will likely finish 27th or 28th.

You underestimate Edmonton's suck.

Calgary's home record:
12-14-3

Edmonton's home record:
10-14-2

I predict the Flames finish the season getting the third overall pick.

Now is about the time the Oilers go on a run to feed another off season frenzy about how this is the year.

They will pass us. NYI will pass us the other direction though.
We end up 27 or 26,

According to Sportsclubstats, if the Nucks go 8-11-3 they will have a 40% chance of finishing in the bottom 5. I'm gonna predict that.

I'd love the Flames to make selling type trades to the Coyotes, Stars and Wild. Maybe give the Kings a nice piece as well, just to be safe.

Maybe because defense is at a premium at the deadline? Perhaps because Butler is only 26 and still not at his prime? Or is it the fact he is currently 3rd in blocked shots in the league?

Stempniak has been pretty bad and when the hater glasses come off Butler has had a decent year.

Not really. I see potential for Cammy to get a pick and prospect in return. The Ducks first will be 25-30 and DSP is a decent but not a flashy prospect. Maybe we get less and if so I won't be surprised. Burke is reason I think we will get a solid return. He will pounce on a team that feels they need to make a move

I think Stempniak is a goner if the Flames could find a buyer. He hasn't produced enough to warrant a stay on the team, and could be chipped for a late-round pick.

Of course we'll place higher than the Oilers.

I don't see the Flames finishing lower than 27th, especially with the injury to Tavares and Vaneks impending departure.
26. Florida
27. Calgary
28. New York
29. Edmonton
30. Buffalo

As for Cammy, I expect a 2nd and a B level prospect. I think we'd be VERY lucky to get a 1st or an elite prospect.

Islanders and Flames have the first and third easiest remaining schedules:

“@esbbob: Easiest remaining schedules for @NHL teams: NYI .512 opp. points pct., NJ .534, CGY .542, BOS .543, TB .545.”

Toughest:

Everyone seems to be saying it will be hard to win games without the vets like Cammy, Stempniak, etc... Personally I don't see our record changing much. So far I think our record has been just as good (If not better) without Cammy in the lineup. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Ya but when we got Cammy back, the fact that he just had a monster playoffs the year prior, I was pumped because the magic him and Iggy had was incredible. The only guy to outscore Iggy in his time with Calgary when Iggy took over being the teams goal leader. Needless to say it was somewhat underwhelming just like the previous 4 seasons of missed playoffs since trading him the first time. He never caught the same fire he had with Iggy and he just isn't the same player here without Iggy.
