After 30 days on a boat with another person, with no food, and probably constant arguments, you'd start playing the riddle game while muttering about your precious and wondering if he's juicy?

Also, I'm definitely calling BS on this story.

I have read a few survivor stories. Many birds will come and land on a boat in the middle of the ocean, maybe to rest. And yes turtles travel thousands of kilometers following the current.

At first I questioned that as well, but then I recalled reading the books regarding balsa wood rafts and how they are capable of drifting from SA to the Pacific isles. Apparently fish are also quite readily available in those waters with very little effort required to catch.

There are some definite holes in this story, specifically, the extreme time frame he allegedly spent drifting.....should be interesting once they start coming to light.

In the correct currents, rafts have made similar journey's in 3-4 months. You can imagine that in the wrong current and in a boat that does not move well (no propulsion/sail), its entirely possible the journey could take significantly longer.

I'm not an expert on ocean currents but I do imagine that there could be stretches in uncharted waters where the ocean is like a lake. With no sail or wind you would be hard pressed to move a crappy fishing boat much faster then at a crawl.

It's really hard to say if there's any merit to this story until more credible facts are unearthed (if ever).

I read the book when I was a kid. Great read than and probably still would be.
