This guy has been ultra inconsistent over his career. Not sure I'd want to be locking him down at a high price.

Last year his save percentage was .903. He's obviously doing well this year... but not sure he's a top flight goalie.

Doesn't really need to be top flight to eventually be worth the deal. Just has to be an average starter... witht he cap likely to skyrocket over the life of the current CBA I feel like an equivalent goalie (in terms of talent) will get as much or more.

Is a sky rocketing cap still a safe bet with the Canadian Dollar tanking? I'm not convinced.

yea, at the beginning of the season it looked like the cap would jump high, but now that the dollar has dropped significantly, i think it's time to lower expectations of how high the cap is going to jump.

what percentage of league revenues are generated in Canadian dollars? (I would guess about a third, but I am sure there are people here that can answer that)

the dollar has moved about 10% for easy math

that would mean the currency move would impact total revenues by about 3%

that would drop the cap by maybe $2m max (using my 1/3 guess)

it is probably less than that

more importantly, the currency could move back the other way just as quickly. The currency becomes a big deal if it drops to the 75-80 cent range, but unless that happens, I don't think it will slow the NHL down much at all
